Just one persons opinion...You are making a busy space look busier with a gallery wall. If you want it to look less busy, use a larger photo. Take time and really organize and possibly relocate it for better balance. Find a more appropriate place for the love sac. Create some space.

How old are your kids? My parents devoted one wall to kid's art work. Another friend bought 6 whiteboard/magnetic boards and hung their kids' artwork on them. MIght be interesting to put up molding to create one large frame and then just fill with all the art work that comes home from school.

Hi, the room already looks busy, and lot of different sizes, shapes and textures are present in the room. In my opinion, you should go for a symmetrical look of family portraits on the wall so your eye is drawn to that. If you arrange the photos in an asymmetric pattern and sizes, it might not have an impact.

Hi there. I’m not a pro, but I love nice gallery walls. And in your space, I like the personal touch it will bring to the office/kitchen. Make it neat, as suggested by Simply Bold above.

I like gallery walls that can be changed and added to.

I would turn the desk because no one likes to face a wall when working & install a few picture strips and add images.

The room has a lot going on already. Do you have another area of your house you could do a gallery wall in and instead hang one striking piece of art on this wall instead? If not and you really want to do the wall here I would use all the same sided frames, same orientation, hung in a grid pattern with straight lines between the rows.

IMO until th kids stop using the space for a play room why let them display their art work . I lkke the ide of the magnetic boards .

I saw this in someone's home once and it looked really nice. They had them spaced out more and had all black & white photos. (which was hard to do in a mockup) You could also just do one row and frame the top and bottom charcoal stripe in a black, white, or charcoal 1"X1" strip of wood.

After seeing that, I thought they looked like a film strip and thought that might be clever.

Here's another idea using alternating rectangular frames. You could also space these out more to have more of the charcoal color between pics.

A kids play space and office seem a little out of sync… will you be doing office work while they play? Is your office spot for work or just things you can do while they are playing with

what shape and how big is the room?

my first thought for a kids rooms …is colorful walls… even wide horizontal bands of color..

large inexpensive bulletin boards for their rotating.. current projects.. …..and baskets for their toys so that it can become the first step in training them to tidy up their things….

Lastly … some comfy seating for you to join them while they play or even snuggle them on your lap as needed

Turn the desk around or at least put a mirror in front of you to see the room behind you.

Thanks everyone, a lot of good feedback here. My husband and I both work outside the home so the computer is rarely used, for paying bills and occasionally catching up on some work late at night after kids are in bed. Kids are little 1 and 4 and in full time daycare. I'd love to find a new place for the love sac, I'll need to get creative, it used to be in girls bedroom, but with the move there is not a good space for it almost anywhere . I also like the idea of turning the desk, definitely visually appealing but word about kiddos bumping into it, specifically my one year old. I now see thatbi think something more uniform makes more sense. I might consider just 2-4 large , equally sized pieces best in a row

Maybe somethinf  like this, less busy , I'd love to get the love sac out but haven't figured out a place for it yet
