A little more: So cute. Are your framed plane pictures matted? When I look closely it looks like they're either matted or there's a width of frosted glass or something that is not quite as white as the print. If they are matted, and the wall color is staying yellow, I would suggest taking them out and either painting them, or covering them with fabric, to something that will help seed them on the wall a little more. (I've both painted and used fabrics to change the color/texture of matting -- in the end there's no real difference other than the texture that fabric can add). Unless my color is off, I don't think those (look like/white) sheets are going to really tie in with the (looks butter) wall color. Maybe a red/blue/white/yellow stripe, or a plaid or something, or contrast the wall color with a navy or red/white stripe. Though it looks those sheets _would_ tie in to the shades, if you end up wanting to keep those (they look lime on my monitor as well). You could always go with blue walls. :) HTH

Well, if you think about the coming water crisis as the earth warms, Arizona will look less and less attractive, IMO. Some predictions have folks moving en masse to areas like the Willamette Valley and western WA where there's less of a shortage of moisture :) Interesting theory about Teri, too. I'm thinking if I were in her position, if I'd been treated decently and offered 9 mil, I'd probably take it. But if people had treated me the way they treated her, I'd say sod off to any bids those condescending sobs deigned to toss my way. I could easily see myself thinking "after all the bs I've taken from you, now that you think it might be valuable you're running to me with insulting lowball bids. Nice try." awm, re realities of family life -- it sure isn't how I grew up, but then again my parents were pretty nonexistent in my childhood. I'm imagining DD will get to talk to her therapist about how Mom was always repainting or remodeling or tiling something in the house LOL...

I think kids' art looks really cute on the walls of their rooms. I have used the art clips from PBK in DS#1's room so that he can easily change out his work. I have also framed some things (very simple gallery type frames). I think rather than transfering an outline on to canvas, you should just let him go for it. If you really want a fish/sea life theme, you can guide him in that direction. And, if you would like to see certain colors included (ie. pastels vs. brights, etc.) then simply make those colors "available". Part (most) of the beauty of children's artwork is that it expresses how THEY see the world. It's wonderful to capture their pure imagination before they learn to do everything the "right way"! My 9-year-old DS still has a fingerpainting above his bed -which is simply his name in bright red paint - which he did at school when he was three. I mounted it on white foam board. Art is such a personal thing. The kincaid in the original post strikes my heart with fear (I hate them...they're creepy IMO) and yet my best friend loves the horrible things. I don't look for art and would never go shopping to fill a space, from a galary or mall, because it never works. Instead when I'm out and about, sometimes art just happens along my path. Sometimes I find it in the attic LOL You just never know. I have a gorgeous bronze nude in our front parlor. If you would have asked me if I'd have a gorgeous bronze nude in my parlor prior to us seeing it at an auction I'd have probably laughed in your face, but when I saw her I just had to have her. DH and I both love her and she fits perfectly in the room. In the same room there is a tin lithograph of a steam ship. Huge thing from the turn of the century. I tripped over it at an antique show and it wouldn't take no for an answer. As to the pet picture...I'd encourage you to have a good artist paint your puppy. A dear friend of ours just lost their kitty. They do not have children and their kitty was their baby. We had a local artist paint him from photo's for them as a suprise gift in his memory when he died. It did bring tears, but it also evoked positive memories for them as well. He was a wonderful friend to them and memorializing the dear boy in a quality art piece was worth every penny to us and to them :) Art should be that personal IMO Stay away from the Thomas Kincaids please :P
