Sneak peek! 50 Shades of Greige Bathroom
Comments (16)Sorry for the late update here! Thanks so much for the encouragement. In reply to some of these questions This is an oak vanity (quartersawn, some mix of white & red oak, and natural finish) The paint color is Benjamin Moore "Museum Piece". Trim is in a 25% dilution. The main field tiles are porcelain in "Bianco Winter" from Stone Source, and I've updated the link Here is a link that might be useful: Stone Source...See More50 Shades of Grey -- sort of
Comments (15)I read almost all of Thomas Hardy's novels (including Tess) when I was in high school and loved all of them, but I do not think I am part of the target audience for 50 Shades of Grey although I have been hearing a lot about it. I found it easy to identify with Thomas Hardy's characters (especially the tragic heroines) because of the rural settings. Tess was probably my favorite Hardy novel, and I like the movie they made of it, but the book is much better IMO. I also read a lot of William Faulkner in high school but did not identify with his characters as easily, even though they were Southern and rural. My other favorite novelist in high school was D.H. Lawrence, and I could identify with his characters also, which is a bit strange because I am not in any way English in heritage! I started reading German novels in college and found characters that were even easier to relate to, especially the ones from around 1800, although before 1800 most of what I read were plays. I still like to read plays. Lars...See More50 Shades of Gray, TKO version
Comments (113)You obviously thought long and hard and really got it just the way you needed. Considering that I started planning the remodel 7 1/2 yrs before we started, yeah, you could say I thought long and hard. ;-) It was hard to wait but on the other hand, since the plan evolved over time, it was definitely worth waiting for. I wasn't going to include a pull-out cutting board - I hated going to use it and finding it filthy because DH and DS2 had forgotten to clean it - but DH and DS2 raised a ruckus when I told them my decision. So I added one back in. But then I took my sweet, sweet time treating it with food grade mineral oil - and they knew I'd raise holy hell if they used it before I treated it - so they got into the habit of using the plastic cutting boards that I can throw in the DW. Yay! So all the fuss about the cutting board and it's yet to be used. =) DH wasn't so sure about dishes in drawers at first but he warmed to the idea during the planning stages. He loves having them here now, as does DS2 (who, at 5'11" is the tallest in the family). In fact, DH will show people that we keep the dishes in a drawer. I love it but I knew I would. So, no, it wasn't hard to get used to my dishes in a drawer in the least....See More50 shades of grey
Comments (3)Agree about matching the wood. The description you provided is all over the place. The faux tin backsplash sounds like it doesn't go with any of the other elements. I can tell you in my market that tin backsplash would work against a quick sale and there would have to be substantial discounts to get the buyer to replace it after closing. Can you post a pic here in the comment section? Flipping a house involves more than just selecting left over materials that you can purchase on a close out basis. I'm a Realtor and have seen those types of flips. They don't do well. It's possible that I am seeing something different in my minds eye than what your description indicates - that's why I asked for a photo....See Morelittlebug Zone 5 Missouri
