I haven't read the book but have heard all about it from friends. Just watched the Ellen video. Quite hilarious. I then watched The Bachelor one right below it and that one had me LOL!

Just got it from Amazon -- Our book club is reading it this month after a universal hate-fest over last month's Lolita. We figured this might be the antidote that gets our intimate lives back on track ;-)

I heard about it last week and downloaded the sample from Amazon onto my Kindle. Haven't read anything "juicy" yet.

Sweeby, I've never read Lolita, but recently learned that Nabokov lived in Ashland, OR, which is near where I live while he was writing it. And on the topic of book club books, I just read Before I Go to Sleep for my book club. It was a book that gripped me from the beginning.

This book has been in the news for months. Better than Anais Nin? That was probably the last erotica I read.

Okay, am I the only one who has read the books? Or the only one who will admit it? Everyone talks about how poorly written they are. Okay, they're not fine literature. I'm curious to hear opinions, though. The friend who recommended the books to me loved them. I will admit that I devoured the books and enjoyed them even as I was cringing through certain scenes. I have two other very close friends who hated them. If you read them, what did you think?

A) That video is funny. So is the Bachelor one.
B) I still don't know what NSFW means.
C) The story of Lolita was repulsive but the writing was good. I think I was the only one in my book club that actually finished the book, cringing through some of it.
D) I looked up Before I Sleep and will be adding that to my reading list.
E) You can't be the only one who read it or else it wouldn't be a subject popular enough for parody. You may be the only one to admit it. I guess I'm really out of touch because I never heard of it until this thread.
G) I might just start doing all my posts in this a-b-c fashion. I kinda like the short, declarative statements format. Mostly, it will be a struggle to keep my thoughts short and declarative. I tend to go on and on. And off on tangents. But I digress.

I also had not heard of the shades of gray book(s)? I'm not an avid reader though. This time of year I do get in more while camping, going to the lake, etc. I plan to check on Before I go to Sleep.

I admit to reading all three of them. Pretty much couldn't put the kindle down. :)

I'm not a prude, but I was a bit shocked by some of the S&M stuff. I liked the love story, but it all fit so perfectly into a little box- a bit not realistic- but I liked them.

Oh- and I was real confused over the stepdad who was a big soccer fan. EL James who is British should have realized American men are more into football than soccer.

Loved Before I go to Sleep! Haven't heard of 50 Shades of Gray. Will have to look it up on Amazon.

I just downloaded the first book last night, after hearing about it from my girlfriends. Can't wait to read it! My GF say it's "mommy-porn".

I had just recently heard of it and thought that it may be fun to read. I need something lighter after some of the Game of Thrones books but, I was not sure that it is the type of book I want to purchase. I looked in the library and for the first book there are 8 copies in circulation and 251 holds. I did not even bother to add myself to the hold list so may break down and purchase the first book to see if I enjoy it.
