It's an adjustment when looking at larger pendants. Your island seems large enough. Maybe get some cardboard or paper that you can cut the size your considering and hang them to get a better visual of how they fill the space. You didn't mention ceiling height so this is a consideration.

Just thinking of measurements .. that sounds too big…also the length is a concern.. it sounds like three smaller pendants would be more proportionate…but this is an aesthetic question… always better to show pictures

Also …on a fairly narrow island.. you could bump your head If the fixtures are too low or wide

With 9’ ceilings you can use a slightly taller than wide shape successfully.. if you want more of a statement from the fixtures
