I have these pendants. Before I remodeled my kitchen last year, I had two of them over my 6.5 ft island and the size was perfect. When I remodeled, I added one because the island is 10 ft. Photos

attached. Not sure what you mean by enough. I have cans all over. The pendants are mostly decorative.

I would prefer a pendant that directed the light down. My concern with your choice is that it might direct the light into my eyes, which would be bothersome. Maybe nycbluedevil_gw can speak to that.

What are the measurements of those fixtures? Here’s a guide to help you. Sketch it out on paper and put the pendants in to see if two work. I have 2 16” pendants on my island and I wouldn’t want a third. As far as “enough” do you mean enough light? You will want more than pendants in a kitchen - layer with ceiling (usually cans), under cabinet as well. As ffpalms, I prefer not to see bare bulbs, but I know a lot of people like the clear glass.

I really like clear glass pendants much better than anything else because I like to see through them and have them be less prominent but to alleviate the glare issue, I used Edison bulbs. I searched high and low for ones with the spiral filament (so they are interesting to look at) that matched the Kelvin temperature of my cans (all 3500). Most of the Edison lights I found were 2700 which was going to be way too yellow against the cooler can lights. But I did finally find them. I don’t find the glare to be an issue at all. I don’t use the pendants that frequently—usually just if someone is sitting at the island having a late night snack or something.

@nycbluedevil_gw your kitchen is beautiful and it makes me want the pendants more than ever. I guess 2 would be the way to go since my island is 2 feet shorter than yours.

@naybug—I think that two would work. These pendants are really big. Three would be way too much for your island.

@sallyt—I’m pretty sure that the bulbs were Feit. I remember that there were three temps—soft white, daylight and bright white. I have the daylight.

@nycbluedevil_gw OOPS! island is going to be 9 ft…not 8. I really wanted only 2 but I can’t stand to see a fixture that looks to small. I am having a hard time finding clear glass pendants that are super wide. Would 2 be enough? Thoughts?

I am partial to things in threes but i think it might be too tight for three. The foot probably makes a difference. Two might not feel like enough though. Try to mock up something with balloons or something else that will approximate the size to see what you think.

@nycbluedevil_gw Do you have any clue where I could find CLEAR wider pendants? Maybe 19 or 20”.
