Well perhaps I'm not old enough, but yes I still need to shave. So frustrating...I have less hair on my head where I want it and more on my chin where I don't!

I have more hair on my legs now than I did when I was younger. However I wear some type of long pants most of the time so when needed I go and have them waxed.

I only need to shave a few times a year, too. I remember when my mother was in the hospital for a few weeks, I offered to shave her legs. She said that she no longer needed to. I looked forward to that day. But like Annie, now I not only have less on the legs but less on the head. Can’t win.

Kiddo had me buy one of these, in hopes to never have to shave again. Anyone else try an IPL? Does it work? I am close to never needing to shave again, but I'm asking for them.

I agree, I have more hair on chin than legs. I wax my chin monthly or more. UGH

I still shave in the summer but only once a week. It seems I have to shave way less in the winter.

I tend to skip shaving my legs in winter, since my legs are covered. Once the weather is warm, and my legs aren't covered, I start again. I definitely have much less leg hair than I did years ago, and I only ever shave from the knees down.

I have a friend whose mom said she never needed to shave - she's in her late 90s now.

FWIW, I mostly stopped shaving my underarms a couple of years ago, but there's not a lot there anyway.

Also FWIW, when I was a teen, none of the cool girls shaved.

Nearing 70 and have only 3 hairs total on legs. Less in underarms too. One of the few plusses to old age. LOL

I'm 65 and there's so much less shaving! I have thick, dark hair, so was used to doing it often on legs and underarms, but now I only have to do it occasionally. And thankfully I don't have it on my face.

Rarely shave my legs. I consider it one of the blessings of getting older.

I'm getting older and so far have the blessings of (a) poorer eyesight and what I can't see doesn't bother me, and (b) not caring what other people think. Would be lovely to never have face or body hair worth shaving, but I don't know if that's in store for me or not.

Robb, I've never tried IPL but have heard it works best on dark colored hair - ? I have done electrolysis with two persons. The first woman must have used a higher power because it hurt more but the results lasted longer. The second woman barely hurt at all and I had to go back about every 2 or 3 months. I quit when covid hit and haven't taken it up again, yet.

Nickel, what you said! I have to get up and personal with the mirror to be a mite dismayed at the peach fuzz, and I wonder for a moment if others are judging me for it. Then I finish my morning at the sink and forget about it for the rest of the day.

I’m 67 and shaving far less. I had a medical issue and couldn’t shave for 2 months. When I finally did, I had maybe 12-15 leg hairs, all about 1/2” long! LOL, but thankful.

I haven't had hairy legs since I was 75. Same for underarms. Much less hair 'elsewhere', too. I run a dry razor over peachfuzz, and I wax harsher chin hairs now and then if I can't pluck the few that grow there. It's a good thing because my eyesight and flexibility are poor. I knew I was *old* when I couldn't stand on one leg to pull pants on without holding on to something. (I recently read that seniors should work on this 'flamingo' thing -- 15 seconds was the recommended goal.)

I always had super thick hair and now it's not as thick but still okay. No underarm hair and spare on my legs which I don't bother to shave till summer and then not often. I never had facial hair of any kind so that's not an issue,

I just stopped shaving my legs and underarms......The lower part of my legs that I used to shave often when I was younger is virtually hair free now, but above that I still have a lot of hair - but still less than I did when I was younger. I just no longer care if strangers around town see my hairy legs, though I'm also not in too many situations where my legs are easily seen up close.

On the other hand, I've had to start shaving my chin :( Unlike my legs, my face is often seen by others up close, and stubble on a woman is quite disconcerting.

A friend of mine switched from yoga to Pilates classes after her yoga instructor retired, and she and several other classmates were amazed that they could, once again, put on their underpants without supporting themselves on a wall or chair. So now that's become my "signal" that I need to work on balance and my abs if I can't put on underwear or pants without support.

No hair on legs since I was 69, but boy those chin and mustache hairs do show up. I'm tweezing about every 2 or 3 days!

How odd. I'm the same age as several of you and I'm not noticing much difference. I wax underarms so they don't need much attention, and I don't shave legs as often as I used to but that's more a result of just lazy. That and the fact I'm so rarely in shorts, a swim suit, or even a skirt.

Still have plenty on my head. I was with an old school chum a while back and she said your hair still looks thick and healthy. Which it is. Fine textured, but there's lots of it. She's an accomplished stylist and has always looked amazing to me but says her own hair much thinner.

My brothers hair has thinned, I think my sisters looks more thick and heavy than my own (she's almost three years older). She's always been darker haired and has our dad's coloring where I'm naturally more fair. I'm getting grey, but covering that with a warmer blonde tone that I just had renewed this morning ;)

OT but my endo told me years ago that both DH and I should be doing regular stretches to help our balance as we grew older. We didn't particularly follow her advice and I do notice lesser balance than I once had. I don't get down on the floor and up again as easily as I used to either, but I think DH is almost worse and he's much stronger than me.

Haven't had to shave legs or armpits in decades. From about 5 years post menopause. My grooming time is spent taking care of brows and upper lip.

I lost balance with Meniere's and a year of harsh vertigo attacks. But I regained it with lots of determination and exercise. I make it a point to dress standing up including pulling on socks. For the tight boot socks I do have to lean on something a bit.

Not much hair on my legs anymore. I only shave the few that remain every few weeks. No underarm hair I can see or feel.

Chisue as for balance, I’be been working on balance for years, with both a personal trainer and now with my Pilates instructor. Yesterday we did one leg stands (each foot) for one minute. Our goal is 2 minutes. I’m 74. Key is using your whole foot, and especially your great toe.

Far less often since menopause; underarms, pretty much never. But… my chin makes up for it:).

Along with the advice for that was to walk heel to toe in a line -- like the 'drunk walk'. That's hard too!

I'm currently trying the Epley maneuver to help with 'the dizzies', but haven't gotten that little particle to budge yet. At least I think that's causing the problem.

I used to think I did not have much of that fine fuzz on my face until I was looking at something in a mirror with the sun shining from behind me. I was horrified at the halo the sun revealed. I am now finding that halo is turning into regular hairs. Very light skin color but still hair that lays next to the skin rather than stands up.

I used to shave every day. I want my legs to be smooth without a hint of stubble. Now I sometimes skip a day here and there and it doesn’t seem to make much difference. As for my chin, I use a REM spring from Amazon that was recommended on here about 10 years ago. It plucks, not shaves and you don’t need to ‘see’.

I read an article about shaving and how it started. It had a photo of Sophia Loren in a sundress with very full underarm hair. It then went on to talk about how women shaving changed over the 20th century..

It morphed into what the young girls, and boys, now shave. Parts I would and did not think of shaving.

I then started to think men do not shave their legs or under their arms, ever. They only shave their face like we cut our hair. Just for fashion. Why do women shave? No real reason. I quit.. My underarms do not itch like they have for all my life. My legs do not itch. And heaven forbid, I have never and will never shave what the kids do now. Except for the time the doctor insisted when my kids were born. He would NOT get me to do that now.

There certainly are cultural differences, but it started long before Sophia Loren. Thousands and thousands of years before. Shaving various body parts has come in and out of fashion for centuries; it seems like shaving legs and underarms seems to be going out of fashion a bit these days.

Sherry, male swimmers and cyclists will shave legs or more.

While a few articles will mention that women shaving legs started in the 1910s before that they used products to remove hair from various other parts such as their arms and faces. That was the time period where skirts no longer covered the legs. Unknown as to the actual truth there were time periods where prostitutes removed their body hair. Which partially could explain some older books talking about fast women being hairless.

Men do remove their body hair. I used to know of two salons who did full body hair removal using a variety of methods since like for women not all hair is treated the same.

My son and grandson both are hairy and both shave their legs. Son is a major cyclist and grandson is a marathon runner. Don't ask how many seconds the lack of hair takes off...lol

To the ones that mention shaving for sports, That is not what I am talking about. I am talking about men shaving legs and underarms for fashion only. No male I have ever known shaved legs because he did not like hair.
