I hope our rose friends in the Northwest are OK

All surface traffic between Portland and Seattle was at a standstill from Monday afternoon through Friday morning, or had to take a 440 mile detour over 2 mountain passes, as I-5 is the ONLY interstate between Portland and Seattle, and all lesser highways in the area were flooded or washed out also, as well as the potential coastal detour over US 101 and state routes 12 and 8 - multiple washouts, landslides, trees and power lines down, and water over the roadway. It looks like the pix of New Orleans after Katrina. People were being rescued from their roofs by helicopter and boat. Fortunately only 3 people dead, but still 3 too many. I have no idea how many livestock and pets died. This is a rural area, lots of cattle and horses and sheep. And the Coast Guard is not going to rescue your dog or your cattle when they're plucking you off your roof. Major cleanups started Friday, but now it's snowing. How on earth does one dry out a flooded house in Washington in December?? We are an official disaster area. Hundreds of people lost their homes, cars, jobs, farms, businesses. Hundreds more were without potable water and power. Raw sewage in the floodwaters and overflowing into Puget Sound. I have a coworker who was unable to come to work all week because he lives on the other side of the I-5 closure. A friend is helping a coworker scrape out his house today, unless it's been postponed due to snow. I, my dogs, and my roses are all fine however, thank you for asking. Lots of standing water, 5" rain in 12 hours, just over 11" in three days. Some localized flooding, and multiple road closures and isolated washouts and landslides, and no mail delivery one day. All those eggs laid by the returning salmon in Oct and November have surely been washed out to sea now by the raging torrents....See MoreOk friends..August pics time:-)
Comments (70)Feed which one? The lilies I feed equally which is about 2 or three tablets every month and a half or so. The lotus I've only had for a month. So I've only fertilized once. And then it died lol... oh no! I can take no credit for that foliage in the photo. I bought it that way. The local nursery carries potted lotus during the growing season. I'm honestly just hoping it makes it till dormancy so that I can repot it with just the viable tubers. The helvola lily is officially blooming. Just needed to get settled. After those first two it sent out another bloom. I just checked and it's got for more buds on the way up, and I think I see the start of another st the crown. Thank you! I have to say I didn't rearrange anything. My yard is set up in little seating areas. Or three seating areas rather... Aren't the frogs cute? I've found four so far. I did buy 9 tadpoles. I'm waiting till my goldfish are bigger before getting some bull frog tadpoles. I wish I had the room to put it out in the dirt. I would've done exactly that. Dug deep and built up. I could pinky imagine what you could do in zone 9. Too be honest my house is close enough to the coast the summers don't get too hot, and winters never get frost. Ever. But without being overly foggy or cool. You would think my possibilities are endless with that. But again... Black thumb....See MoreOK Kitchen Friends - Need your Advice elsewhere
Comments (6)Maybe it's the picture. There appears to be 3 contrasting colours. Though nice, the stone could be perceived as distracting with the current colour scheme. The stone doesn't appear to coordinate well with the colour of the house or the roof. There also appears to be 2 different almost contrasting shades of grey with the roof and the exterior. You should try using SW's visualizer tool to see what colour combinations would work for the house, taking into consideration the roof, exterior and stone. You should be able to find some good colour combinations that would work well. Here is a link that may help. Good luck. Comments (13)yeah the title got screwed up but i blame dragon naturally speaking picking up on the TV but at this point working in the summer heat is killing my brain. As for where in Z9 Tampa,FL land of lightning and skeeters that will carry you off in the shade. And for a good friend i would help remove the jungle and start again but since this one is only an OK friend he must suffer in the land of overgrowth and oddities....See More3katz4me
