ok..Time to see your Philodrendrons! Please, what do you have?
Comments (73)I can use fresh soil, that's a good idea. And I'll top dress it a bit as well. Though, I think that once I unpot it , I'll probably want to do a full repot. Most times, I do a full repot and put into 511 mix, but this plant is so dear to me, I'd be heartbroken if I messed up the repot. If Al finds out that I am doing this half-cocked kind of planting, both of us will be in for a talking-to. See how I made it "us" instead of "me?" :)...See MoreOK Boys & Girls -- Picture Time
Comments (9)Hiya Gang, Kelly, waving attcha. I grow in lots of different fashions. I'm very curious & experimental & have only western light w/ which to work. This is the first Hoya I've allowed on this windowsill -- it's otherwise occupied by 5-7 Aloes who called dibs on the west window real estate a long time ago. When the mother plant crashed & broke (in another room which window is already full of Hoyas), I just improvised this particular setup, for lack of another solution. I knew this Hoya loves growing in water, & happened to have the net pots. Am lucky I've got 3 different sizes. Can't remember where I bought them. It was a temporary solution which worked well enough that I adopted it permanently. Pls. refer to the other thread 'Questons about Hydroton' at the end of which, where I refer Miztico to a particular search for pix of my first big, 'officially' Hydro growing Hoya purchase. It clearly shows the Leca stones & am impressive (to me anyway) H kerrii w/ white edge variegation....See MoreTime to order--is this layout OK? (pics)
Comments (15)Closed base cabinet, I think; it gives you more options. In this case, I think a "standard" base would work best...drawer on top, shelves & doors below....and probably stationary shelves (but adjustable!) rather than roll out trays/shelves (ROTS). I think ROTS would take away too much space from a shallow cabinet to be worthwhile. It's not like 12" is too deep to access easily! For the wall above, it could either be an open cabinet w/shelves or nothing at all. You could mount a calendar or white board there with either option. If w/cabinet, then maybe a shelf above it for decorative items or something. The floor of the of the cabinet would be a good place for a pencil holder, stickies, etc., leaving the surface below open space for writing, etc. The sides of the cabinet would be a great place for adhering stickies w/notes to yourself or others. You could even install some hooks for keys on the inside or outside, and maybe install a place to hang a grocery list. It's right across from the garage entrance so it would be ideal location for these things. (Maybe even a staging place for kids' lunches in the morning....easy to grab on the way out the door!) [OK...now you're making me miss the Message Center we were supposed to have b/f we lost it to our KD's measuring errors...this is almost exactly what we had planned!!!! The message center niche we ended up with doesn't work quite as well :-( ] I would put countertop on the surface...ties it in w/the rest of the kitchen. If it's a stand-up writing surface, at least counter-height, maybe even higher (bar-height)...test out the surface heights to see what works best for you & your family....See MoreOk, time for some more...
Comments (15)Thanks you guys! Hey, I feel like an idiot. I rushed to naming BLACK PEARL. That bed is kind of a mess. I discovered today, that's not BLACK PEARL. I really didn't think it was, but could've sworn it was in the spot that is BP. But I found out it's actually INK SPOTS! Sorry about that! They're right next to each other and there's a huge Hot Lips salvia flailing all over the place in there, making it hard to see where the base of the roses are! Ann, I'll have to check DELLA for fragrance. Can't remember if she smells or not. I had to move her to the back yard because I'm rearranging pots out front and putting newer, younger ones there. Time to switch out the older ones that were there for yrs, and get them in the ground. So, she's in back awaiting her new location.... along with a couple hundred other roses! It'll be next spring til that happens tho....See Moreroseyd
