I am confused as to which space you are talking about. Do you mean the space with the blue sofa?I think we need a to scale floor plan of that whole living space and much better pictures of this puzzle space and the kitchen . To mea it was meant to the FP not the most useable space but certainly doable. What is wrong with the way you have it ? I think a TV in there a nice ottoman to put your feet up have a glass of wine with a friend while making dinner would be my choice. Those little chairs and all the stuff on that wall need to go . But I need a plan. Post the plan here in a comment or 2 and some info as to how you live and who uses the space and where those patio doors go.

In your seating area, can you pull the chair on the right onto the carpet and set another chair next to it with the ottoman in front of them? That may help in separating the room from the open kitchen and the rest of the area. I don't think the wall between the two rooms is the issue. It feels more of too much open space looking from the kitchen.

Yep, I mean the area with the blue sofa. The sliding doors lead to a deck. I don't really want to put a TV here, we have several throughout the house. I like the idea of perhaps putting larger scale furniture and perhaps repositioning it. I'm also not married to any of the furniture pieces in there. I'll see if I can find a plan.

I understand that you closed this doorway up… But I’m wondering if you can open it back up. Make the opening as large of a case opening as possible.
You’ll need a structural engineer to come and take a look. But I think that’s your best option.

In the meantime, pull the sofa and chairs off the wall a bit

That looks like a nice, casual gathering space next to the kitchen. Perfect to congregate as somebody cooks and others hang out close by. No tv here is nice— that’s where I’d serve hors d’oeuvre and my book club would have the loose conversation before delving into the heavy stuff. Scooch the chairs in a bit closer.

I like looking into the rooms like a doll house.

I think that whole idea of appies before dinner is a great one.

So I followed your suggestions and wow you guys are awesome, at times harsh but awesome nonetheless lol. Will post pics. It looks like a totally different room it also forced me to finally get rid of the two small chairs and replace them with something more in-line with the style of that space.

Very nice. The only thing I would do is bring the clock down a bit as well as the artwork on the slider door wall.
