My crazy bar is a lot higher than that these days, but, yes, it is a little aggravating. It's also helpful to me if someone is *finally* choosing whatever to remind us a bit on the backstory. You know, like on TV when this week's show starts and you need to remember what happened previously they sometimes say, "Previously on ___" and then they give you the plot reminders. Reminders on your kitchen saga can be helpful too. :-)

I am no help with colors, but I will advise you to prime the oil painted fixtures before painting them with latex paint. I once lived in a house with all oil painted walls. Back then, you had to prime them with oil-based primer to switch to latex paint, or the latex would simply peel off in time. Since I could not breathe oil paint fumes, there was no way for us to paint the house interior! Nowadays, I believe that latex primer will do the trick.

Here's the little square swatch on top of the counter. We definitely aren't afraid of using color or repainting, but cabinets is a lot of work so we will probably just continue the Medici Ivory trim paint over most of the kitchen and reserve a muted olive for the island as an accent only.
