Comments (52)OK, so here is my 2023 tomato list. To answer Cindy's question, we get Black Krim and Cherokee Purple first and they taste best, then later we get Chocolate Stripes and they taste best. Last year Vinson Watts held on very late and then it tasted best. And we eat all of the rest of them whenever. After trying many others we only grow Sungold and Chocolate Cherry small ones and they are abundant. The 5 experimental ones at the bottom came from Tomato Jim Wyant this year...it was $17 but we can afford it if we cut back on something. A couple of those are supposed to be very early which I hope is good for our cool climate. We are about half way through last year's tomato sauce so should make it. This year I'm going to can some crushed tomatoes because they are so good in pasta sauce....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 1/1/2023
Comments (57)So glad to hear you are feeling better, Yeonassky! Isn't it amazing how exercise becomes such a part of your daily routine that even when sick you want to get out there! I am not there currently lol.. but I have been in the past and will be again. Best wishes in the new year and with your increments with running and pushups! Prickly what a great feeling to look back at the last year and to see your accomplishments right there in the mirror! What really stands out to me is that you say you feel "strong and fit" ... and that you have significantly reduced your digestive issues. Those are the kinds of changes that impact your quality of life! I am impressed and so happy for you! Well done! And prickly's post reminded me that we all have been here posting and sharing experiences since what? May? It has been so very helpful to have this forum to share experiences, articles, recipes and successes! You all have kept me focused when I want to throw up my hands ... and inspired when I think I just can't eat another cucumber LOL. Thank you all for coming back here week after week! ❤️❤️❤️ So I can't really explain my update this week-- but I am down 4lb since 12/31 --- 3 lb lower than my lowest weight in 2022. I definitely cut back on the indulgences, but I really didn't expect to see any losses-- in fact, I am pretty sure my calories were higher than usual! I can't explain it but I am just really glad to see a loss after 4 months of very slow progress....See Morepictures from my 2023 rose garden
Comments (86)Thank you, Dianela about the White Wedding recommendation. Rosylady, what is wrong with arborvitae? I planted about nine of them to replace Leylands. I see them quite often around here and most look good and are not too big. There are some tall ones at our recreation center walk trail and they look a bit ratty in full sun and I think sometimes they have needed water. My parents had a yew hedge in the deep south. It grew fine. It is poisonous though but just don't eat it. I will look up needlepoint holly. I have a bunch of boxwoods here that were given to me as a transplant when we bought our house about 36 years ago. They are big boxwoods, round, but I don't know what kind they are. I like the dwarf ones that people sometimes edge their rose beds with....See MoreWhat are you reading? January 2024 Edition
Comments (95)My sister just sent me her list of books she is planning on purchasing. (She shares with me). She likes more fantasy/science fiction than I do, we both seem to like historical fiction, stories with strong females, I like biographies more than she does (added the last book to her list). Any feedback on any of these titles: Ten Birds that changed the world The tattooist of Auschwitz The Giver of Stars Stars of Alabama The Book of Lost Friends The Once and Future Witches Stolen: the astonishing odyssey of Five boys along the reverse underground RR The Four Winds The Keeper of Lost Things Love, Life and Elephants The Last Bookshop in London The Life of Pi The Girl of the Limberlost The Poisonwood Bible House in the Cerulean Sea The Island of Sea Women Lisa Tan’s Circle of Women The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post...See More- 3 years agolast modified: 3 years ago
