How can I “complete” the look of the bar cabinet??

This cabinet is adjacent to my white kitchen. I was thinking of putting shelves above it….most shelves are 8 inche deep and the cabinet top shelf is 6 inches….. Is that ok

OR would a cabinet work better….i want a clean look and some storage…..

I don't think upper shelves being a couple of inches deeper than the cart would necessarily be a problem. The lower part looks deeper than 8 inches anyway.

If you want a clean look, then a cabinet would be best, I think. You could look for one with sliding doors, instead of the kind that open on hinges.

Will you show a pic of this cabinet in relation to your kitchen? The entire wall this cabinet sits on? I’m trying to visualize that it’s on the wall to right of frig & the same wall the tall built in shelving in the other room is on - but need to see the wall.

If you are wanting a clean look then i think a more traditional sideboard might work better

He sampled them last night but didn't seem overly enthusiastic about them. I do have some wheat germ I can try next time. Cutting down on the spinach shouldn't have affected the dryness of the topping because it is spread on as a middle layer--not mixed into the oat mixture. I'm trying to get him a serving of veggies at lunch. The school won't heat up their lunches so the only cold veggie he eats right now is tomatoes. I don't want to burn him out on tomatoes by giving him those every day so I'm trying to cook some veggies into food so he will eat them without having to get them heated up. I was going to slowly increase the amount of spinach I put in these after he gets used to the taste. I've got a recipe for butternut squash quesadillas and some breakfast cookies that have a white bean paste in them. I'm ok with him eating real butter--I'm not trying to limit his calories. I guess I need to research more on converting from margarine to butter when baking. He has a real sweet tooth so I know he would like these better if they were sweeter but I don't like refined sugar--that's why I was wondering if there was something I could change out or add that would be better than the white sugar that I'm already putting in there. How handy are you? A couple of cans of spray paint, a spray bottle with water, and glass (if you can cut glass) or plexiglass (you can cut with wood tools), and you can get that antiqued mirror look.

@likewhatyoudo are you suggesting a color for the wall that closely matches my cabinets? my trim color is SW alabaster and I did try getting a color matched that would work in my kitchen and the home and the color suggested was SW ivory lace which was an off white shade I would say white with a hint of yellow, but personally I wanted something a bit more clean and modern while this kitchen is giving me the traditional vibes. My kitchen opens up to the living room and the breakfast room, it’s quite an open floor plan. I guess I want to do something that makes the kitchen brighter and a bit more modern than traditional .

Appreciate your inputs, please keep them coming. To answer a few questions: The rug in the picture is just temporary, until we find a good match. Thank you for the suggestions, gave me ideas for the rug. Checkered chairs are black and white, which I was a little skeptical about when I ordered. Wanted to have the end chairs different then the side chairs. If anyone has other suggestions for the chairs, would like to see those. Bench was something which I saw was in trend these days and my family liked the look of it, for me it looked good but did not give me that complete look of a set. I can surely change the chairs and bench. If someone has ideas what to replace with, please suggest. I am looking to liven the room and not just plain black white and grey. I was thinking a modern farmhouse or modern contemporary theme for the room. Looking forward to more suggestions and comments.

What do you need to store? Glasses, bottles, decanters, what? You could plan in one of those upside down hanging glass racks with more shelf above. Or cabinets- maybe glass front or the same mesh as the bottom cabinet, with lighting inside. You might want to use some space for fiddly drink stuff- corkscrews, linens or coasters, stirrers or bar items. Might be nice to have a mixing tray. You have a service tray now, but it's occupied. Having a mixing tray can be nice to help keep things neat.

Can you hang that unit on the wall?

and get an enclosed credenza w/ flat counter top to put below?

Was that cabinet advertised as a bar? Is the cocktail shaker and tray shelf really only about 24" off the floor?

I agree with closed storage. I do not like to see booze on display.
