You could try Bedrosian Chloe in what they call white. It’s a mixture. They have a cream version but I personal think the color variations in it are not as subtle.

Go to a tile store and bring home several samples. Preferably a real tile store, not a big box store. Take a drawer from your kitchen so you have a paint sample. On the first trip, be openminded and try things you think might work but aren't maybe what you're imagining. The lighting in stores is never the same as what you have at home so it's difficult to tell until you look at the samples at home. Prop them up under the upper cabinets, perpendicular to the counter as they would be installed. If you get down to a couple choices and can't decide, update your post with a picture of what you're considering so commenters can weigh in.

I would go with Almond grout. But But, do a sample board.

I would buy extra so I would have more creamier ones to choose.

Your kitchen looks great, there is no need to repaint here! Using blue, or a blue tinged gray backsplash tile might tend to bring out the yellow you're seeing in your cabinets, or as your eye adjusts, might be really pretty. You won't know until you try it. You'll probably get advice - so let me start it - to experiment with different lightbulbs before you start bringing home tile samples. A cooler bulb with higher Kelvins might change what you're seeing. But no need to panic about your new counter - changes are always kind of stunning at first.

Did you have a backsplash plan in the back of your head before you replaced the counters?

This is what I imagined. I really don’t want just all white or cream. And perhaps the starkness of going from dark brown /black granite to white is what has me confused.
I’m worried the blue tones will really highlight the yellow undertones of the cabinets. The cabinets match our trim which is why we did them cream and not stark white. In our last house we had stark white cabinets and cream trim and it looked weird in our open concept.

So you were already thinking of a blendy whitish mix? (Not a professional colorist term I'm pretty sure...)

Try a Calacatta gold if you want a marble--it should be less blue but still have all the marble goodness. The other suggested tiles above are nice for ceramic/porcelain tiles. Get some samples of Fireclays assorted whites and see if a custom blend will work.

I wonder if green would work better than blue, or if you really want blue, maybe choose a blue shade that has some green in it

i think adding gray to the mix would be a mistake. You need to keep the floor in mind and find a tile that doesnt fight the whites you have

do you have under the cab task lighting? it might make a difference in figuring this out. seems there's a few different ways to approach the choice of backsplash but as usual...lighting is key. this arabesque is on the traditional side but w your raised cabinet style and wood tone floor I like the shape along w the slight warmth in the tile and grout to pull everything together. maybe more a polished nickel knob to up the style a bit.

Yes we have under cabinet lighting. We’ve played with bulbs. It’s truly just how the light hits. My husband now wants a color…..he’s liking the green blues

Played with the bulbs how? IMO LED 4000K for all kitchen lighting is the first step before choosing anything. So do that then IMO choose a glass tile it will be neiter white or cream and look great or else look for a tile with both whites in it somewhere

I found this Annie Selke tile at our local Tile Shop and love it with my creamier countertop. Its called lattice cream

I like the idea of blue. But I don’t think it fits the rest of the style… it’ll be quite coastal with those style cabinets imo.
I think I’d keep it simple.
I like the Bedrosian tiles.

Another option is just taking the countertops up the wall. Do you like that look?

I’d also change out the hardware to something less “builder grade” looking I think it’ll make a huge difference

Once again, 4000K bulbs cast a blue/white light and may be too cool for your kitchen. I used 3000 or 3500 for mine. Don’t panic….it’ll come together with accessories etc…..the green is pretty but is there a grey vein in your quartz (?) countertop?

Pretty kitchen! i know its stressful when colrons mess with your plan. i dinsee the color difference in cabinets/ counterstoo countertop, but I dont see the need to repaint them. I think with the right backsplashkappas, you can blend the 2 beautiful shades of white and it will look perfect. Try bedrosian cloe as some mentioned, aslso try WOW ceramics Shadow white - simialr to bedrosian Cloe, also try Akdo carerra bella - its a blend of creamy white, slight gray, muted gold, white. they have it in different sizes / shapes.

Buy samples of green tiles, blue tiles and the cream-and-white tiles suggested. You need to see these ideas in your house (and all the mock up from @Melissa R are really helpful.)

Ellen I absolutely love the marble chevron you posted…it will pull the neutral together and give you a classic style……if you want a bit of color paint the insides of the cabinets with the glass fronts..is easy to do and easy to change out!

I would also check out handmade look style tile. Anything with slight variations in color and texture will help the eye manage the stark contrast between the colors.

As far as bulbs go, Home Depot sells adjustable bulbs that, IMO, are great for tricky kitchen lighting.

I think marble chevron or herringbone is the way to go, classic and interesting and if you want a hint of green choose accordingly. Consider how your choice works with the flooring as well.

Bring home a few boxes of different shades and sizes (that can be returned) and tape to the wall/look at different times of the day and at night.

It’s the sum of choices that makes a difference, sets a tone. Given all the effort to paint (trust me I know), suggest updating hardware and stools. A runner and roman blinds would be nice as well.

Your kitchen colors are insanely elegant. I love them together. And they bring so much attention to your beautiful floor. Please don't ruin a wonderful thing by throwing in a colored backsplash. I tried so very hard twice to create kitchens that look like yours!

My favorite kitchens either have no back splash or run a 6" strip of the counter top up the back wall. I have done both in my kitchens and don't regret it at all. Food mess and stains always wipe right off of my painted backsplash area in fact much easier than with tile. And there is no concern about cleaning grout. Bring in some stunning chairs and lights over the peninsula and it will be a superb look.

Colored tiles don’t relate to anything else in your kitchen. Find a tile that blends in the cabinet and countertop colors.

Thanks everyone. I think we settled on a backsplash. We tried color and blah it looked like a racing stripe. We’re doing herringbone that has a couple whites creams and grays and I’ll decorate with color
