Need Help/Ideas to put my TV on in my living room. Can't mount it.
Comments (8)oops, Denita, no pics. here are a few from the Houzz store, just for brainstorming. there are lots of consoles that combine housing for the cable box et al with lots of extra cupboard space, so you should have plenty of options. Ikea makes a lot of great pieces in this particular category too, so you could look there. You could maybe even go superlong to take as much advantage of that wall as possible, especially if you go with white or something else that blends into the background a bit....See MoreNew first home buyer and would love ideas for my living room!
Comments (21)Some really great advice here. First though, congrats on your charming home purchase. So much potential! I like traditional, but a more eclectic mix. I subscribe to Traditional Home Mag for inspiration. Take a look at their website too. You both may like it. Also, please use your existing furniture and buy what you both like a piece at a time. You don’t have to have it completely furnished right away, take your time and buy what you love Decide on colors for the walls, then rug colors. I like the rugs and couches previously posted, take time to find what style you both like. I tend to pick neutral furniture and accessorize with colorful pillows, artwork and accessories as those are easy to change if you want to switch things up....See MoreGood idea to swap my family room with my living rooms?
Comments (10)May I ask just what is a "servery" and what does one do in a "conservatory"? You must not be in the US. It looks to me that the current family room has easier access to the kitchen than does the current dining room. That would be a plus for doing what you want to do. As of the floor plan, it looks entirely doable and it makes sense to reverse the use of the two rooms. It looks to be awkward to carry food service all the way around and down the hall to the current dining area. If you have servants, that might make sense. Since most of don't have any such, it makes sense to have the dining area adjacent to the kitchen. Most people don't even use the more formal dining areas of their homes, except at holidays. The modern sensibility is that most little used areas of that nature just amount to wasted space. So, if you spend more time gathered with friends than gathered around a more formal dining area, make that change....See MoreHelp make my living room comfortable yet stylish
Comments (6)Rugs on carpet never bothered me. However, I would make sure to get a low pile rug and/or hook weave. These are from West Elm: I normally don't like TVs over the fireplace but since your couch is so far back I think it will work well in this scenario. However, with the current couch placement, the living room entrance feels a bit crowded. To remedy this I would move the side table to the other end of the couch and leave that space empty. Hope this helps!...See MoreMrs. Beasley
