jade plant concerns, turning purple, wrinkled weak leaves
Comments (22)Separate threads would be better, but here we are. Shanesirish5, if you are nervous about the plant's health from chopping a large branch, don't be. If you are concerned about the balance and look of the plant in the future, it's hard for me to recommend that level of pruning through pictures. If you could start a relationship in a local bonsai club, you would probably find someone willing to look at the plant in person and give recommendations. I'm guessing this specimen would rate that kind of attention and effort based on what you've said. Spiritdancer2020, you can use the search tool here for 'gritty mixes'. You'll get a book's worth of manifold opinions, probably all of which work well for jades. At the VERY LEAST, a simple solution that keeps you from having to find a variety of ingredients (if time, money, desire are issues), buy a bag of cactus and succulent soil from a local garden center, a bag of perlite, and mix the two in equal measure. There's no indication where you live, so if getting any of these materials is difficult, tell us where you live and we can try to help. A friend of mine in Indonesia can't get what many of us would call common ingredients, but he is successful with builder's gravel and backyard soil. ez...See MoreLeaves turning black/brown/dark green rotting and wilting
Comments (2)Thanks, yeah I think frost damage. They are outside. The last frost should have passed, and it hasn't actually gotten down to freezing, but I guess some of the plants die in the high 30s, which I didn't realize. It hasn't officially gone below 40 but I guess there can be a few degrees of variation. Oh well, I have backups still awaiting transplant for most. Just want to make sure it wasn't a disease....See Morepotted Meyer lemon tree leaves turning dark green with brown spots
Comments (3)Sorry, this photo was immediately following watering. I usually keep it drier. Good point regarding poor drainage, though, since I am a complete novice. The pot has holes on the bottom, and I set the pot on several bottle caps to raise the pot above the ground and allow those holes to function (theoretically). Do the photos look consistent with either root rot or excessive fertilizer? Thank you for chiming in!...See MoreJade Plant Leaves Turning Light Green
Comments (3)When I was using grow Lights a couple years ago for indoor plants, the lights were putting out over 25,000 lux. 400 is starving them. as far as watering, I’d use the dowel method. Insert all the way to the bottom and Pull out and Inspect. Dark, damp with soil clung to it = dont water. Clean and dry = water. water thoroughly until water is freely Running out the drain holes. Let the plant drain in the sink and don’t let it sit in the spent water in a saucer. Lastly, Houzz is still annoying. the app randomly capitalizes letter for no reason. And doesn’t capitalize where needed....See MoreL Evve (Miami)
