It is to do with code. I have posted & gathered a lot on the plumbing forum. Even been spoken down to by a few people on here. Guess all I wanting was someone on there that has these small efficient systems in their home. I did locate today on the Bosch Instillation manual, that the drain pipe can hook on to a sink or tub just like my current combo. This might be the solution to my problem as it won't be connected to a drain pipe. Trust me, I am going to think this through to make this work. I in no way want to have a problem, but Bosch shows that it can be done this way, so really don't see a problem hooking it to the shower area exposed. I even thought of having a big trash can to collect the water as it is being drained, then poor it down the shower...:). I am very creative in my thinking. I like to think outside the box. I have put in a e-mail to the VP of Sales @ Bosch to see if anyone there can speak to me about this issue. If they are going to market this very small units, then the really need to provide as much information for the consumer. Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon. If not, then I will cancel the order.

Thank you both. I won't pretend to understand, but I looked up dfu so now know something more than I did. The existing tub (not sure why the original owner/builder put in a separate tub/shower) will have a shower added, so would that be considered just 2 DFUs or do I have to double that because it is a combo shower/tub? The drains from the room are separate of course, but I assume they meet up somewhere under the house to go to the septic. Would I still be okay DFU wise, if the drain size meets code? I thought a lot about the venting as that is one of the reasons I want to move the w/d. Now the outside vent is under the deck and there is no way to clean it out except hiring someone to get in the crawl space and do it. I want it where I can access it outside. If I need to get a fantech dryer booster fan to accommodate the 6.5 ft of dryer hose, I can do that. Thanks again.

I use magicplan on my iPad, I got the app free but purchase plans for 2.50. If you tell me where the windows and doors are I can try some plans out and post here. Whether or not you can fit a washer/ drier in will depend on if you have lots of solid walls, if you are willing to sacrifice a large shower, have only a single sink and how many exterior walls you have if you live in an area that does not allow for exterior wall plumbing. I have a larger bath but it has windows on all three exterior walls so my plumbing for the shower was limited substantially. With smaller baths we really have to pare down and focus on our most important wishes. here is a quick plan that assumes you have no windows or issues with plumbing placement magicplan only allows for doors on outside walls but the door to the stackable laundry cubby should fit in the room too.

Then maybe shift the W/D to next to the window which gives the toilet more room to face the way it was. Put the shower next to the door with a narrow linen closet separating it from the W/D. Maybe add a stackable small laundry closet there and still have a very large closet. In both of these cases, it seems like the w/d would cover up a window, which I was hoping to avoid. It's a row home with other taller buildings around it, so I like to keep as much light as possible. Do you think it's worth covering up the window anyway? It is more inconvient, disruptive and expensive to change your toilet location in reality. I didn't actually move the toilet flange location, I just rotated the toilet and changed it to a 14 inch rough-in instead of the 10 inch version I currently have. (Specifically looking at the Kohler Wellworth Classic Five.) My cursory googling seemed to indicate this was ok. Is that a bad idea? If you had a spacious well layout bath you might find your closet is no longer your favorite room, I sure did. The shoes and bags live in the closet, so I don't think that's ever going to change! Haha! :)
