Table size and style help please!
First home! Very uncertain what to do here size/style/color-wise. We are aiming for a round table for 4 (since the dining room table the next room over is rectangular).
Pictured is a 42” table. It is centered with the ceiling light and back door, but we're also cautious of one of the seats being too close to the island. Eventually we’ll have a stand behind the couch to hopefully take up more space as well. Thoughts? Too small? Colors off? Needs a rug? Definitely open to suggestions! Thanks!

Comments (0)Hi I need help deciding on the style and size of a dining chandelier. I just moved into a new home in Florida . It is a great room concept. So kitchen, dining and living areas are all one large room. First dilemma, the size of my dining table It is new and without a leaf it is 44x72 With one leaf it is 44x92. (Picture shows table with one leaf) I think it needs to be at 92. Seems too small without leaf. Thoughts please. So depending on size of table in this open format room What size of fixture. I have a tray ceiling for a 10 ft height in dining area. I am thinking antique silver chandelier as it would go well with the black buffet and I have silver accent pieces. The kitchen backsplash has some silver inset tiles. I like the drum shade look as well as some antique silver transitional pieces. I have one socket so 2 fixtures are not an option. Should I go with a longer oblong chandelier as opposed to a round or square. Picture show one of the drum fixtures I saw and liked. But it is 24 w x 17 h . Comments (9)leelee, those numbers are extremely optimistic and don't account for chairs size, people size, or being able to push the chairs in a bit at the end of the day for a nicer look. I have nice size chairs that are very comfortable and six chairs is the everyday maximum for my 60" round table. I can squeeze in a 7th chair. Make sure you mock up the table and your chair size to get an accurate representation of how many chairs/people will actually fit in your set up. Comments (6)With a 9’ ceiling you need about 7’ under chandelier for clearance if heads. Unless, it hangs over a coffee table. That leaves 24” total for your fixture. Comments (6)why don't you get some painters tape and mark out the size you think you'd like, or the max that you can use there. don't forget chairs and having to scoot them back to get in and out. what if you used a round table and got one w/a leaf when you want bigger? You have so many rectangular lines in that one area, using something round will soften it a bit. I think something like this would be perfect...See More

I'd go get a 30"w x 60"l table, four legs only. That will allow a larger table and a better position under the light. If it has a leaf ? can allow six chairs when needed.

Also relocate your garbage can elsewhere so it's not in dining space. Or consider getting a pullout Rev-a-Shelf garbage can pullout for under the sink.
