All of my baseboards doors and trim is off white- want white kitchen

So I painted the cabinets white and used white subeauy tile, is it weird to have just the kitchen trim work aointed white and to leave the rest of the off white trimmed?

Depends on if they’re in the same sight lines. Do you see them both at the same time? In most homes, unified trim is the best choice.

There are no hard and fast rules, but it's not unusual for different rooms in a house to have different trim colors. It sounds like what's most important to you is that the trim in the kitchen matches the cabinet color - correct? Is your kitchen open to other rooms in the house or separate?

1. I've included a link so you have a visual of dark baseboards and painted window trim. I see no reason you can't paint only the window trim. If you decided to paint the baseboards then I'd go ahead and paint the door trim also. My house is all white trim & baseboards with stained pine doors so I know how great the look is! :~). 2. Your doors and trim may only need a good cleaning, a touch up with stain and then sealed. Replacing will be much more expensive and labor intensive than just painting. If you decide to paint them, talk to someone at a paint store (not a big box) and ask about the products they now have that you can use instead of sanding. If the surface has really shiny finish then you'll probably need to do some light sanding. Here is a link that might be useful: white trim, dark baseboards

If you can paint the entire window on the inside, it can be any variation you want, because the inside will be consistent.

Funny I was just at freinds who have the same white throughout their kitchen so I was thinking that's it that's the answer it all has to be the same colour as the cabs and I read your response and it occured to me that the white in their kitchen is the same colour as all their trim througout the house. I'm leaning to keeping the baseboard the same white as the other trim and ceiling (particularly considering the kitchen has 2 doorways into the other room), as you suggest. Thanks for the advice.

@HU-187528210, thank you for your input. However, all the doors and trim through the rest of the house are dark like this one. Wouldn't it look off if I had just one door & trim that was white, and all the rest are dark with dark baseboards?

Everything the same is safe, and boring. No one will find fault with everything matching. Not matching needs to be done with intention, and taste.

IMO we need to see your spaces but the kitchen often has a different color cabinets so if the space is not completely open to the next room do the cabinets and trim in the kitchen the same and leave the rest . This is why we need pics. Post them in a commnet here do not start another post.

I have mixed trim colors in my house, but the colors are very similar and there are cased openings between the two. Same idea - kitchen vs rest of house. The average person wouldn't notice the difference. So show us your space and if you already know which colors you will be using let us know.
