The eyes alone are very clear. So is the rest of the head--shape and markings. A bunch of pictures: Black racers: http://www.snake-trap-repellent.com/gallery/snake037.jpg http://www.247wildlife.com/photos/snake025.jpg http://rlv.zcache.com/young_black_racer_print-p228618357588161785vsu7_500.jpg Rat snakes--here are grey, black and unspecified. The markings on the back are sort of similar, however again the head--in particular the eyes--are very clear: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1347/3175592690_6796dab811.jpg http://www.agfc.com/!userfiles/int_images/snakes/blackrat_juv_big.jpg http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/site/resources/usfws/juvratsnake.jpg/medium.jpg...See MoreThe Hall of Shame (shops, etc.)
Comments (47)Funny Forever 21 story. We have a HUGE Volunteers of America thrift store in my town (Columbus OH). All the teens go there to hunt for vintage & funky clothes. Everyone calls it VOA. My friend who has a teen daughter and I were talking about how cool it is the kids compete to get the funkiest, cheapest things at VOA and brag about paying $1 or $2 for outfits. She said her daugher wanted her to take her to shop at Forever 21. My friend told her, "Honey, we don't have a Forever 21 budget. We have a Forever VOA budget." I thought that was the funniest thing I've heard in ages! And I agree about Forever 21 - cheap stuff!! Same with Target, Old Navy, Gap, etc - cheap trashy clothes that look good the first time you wear them then look awful after you wash them!...See MoreUnexpected findings and expenses ...
Comments (9)Chispa, I’m so sorry you’ve had problems with demo. Termites, oh my goodness. At least you’re catching this and are taking care of it. The water damage is another issue altogether… darn! Although our ‘issues’ thus far seem minimal, we too are running into a few things ‘unexpected’ during the first parts of our DIY demo. When pulling up the carpeting in the great room, we realized the tile in the kitchen (putting hardwood throughout all) had been put on top of the old vinyl… it was ‘layer caked’: The tile came up somewhat easily using the tile tool and air compressor. Hauled it away in DH’s truck. But then we found concrete board underneath that had a zillion nails in it (about 5 nails per 8 square inches). The only tool that works is a pry bar and hammer, with the concrete board coming up in mostly little pieces and having to stop every few moments to laboriously pry up the ‘too many nails’. We just pulled up a bit of the old vinyl and were happy to see it came up easily – the glue was old. The other happy surprise was the plywood on top of the plywood subfloor had not been glued down. However, not at all happy to see yet another excessive amount of screws (about 3-4 per 6 square inches). Most the screw heads are filled with mastic, so will have to be removed one at a time with vise grips, turning around and around to back the screws out. What we thought would be done over a 3-day period is taking far longer with only weekends to demo. Thus far, no water damage, thankfully. We are an older couple (late 50’s, early 60’s) and this is proving to be quite a demo! Rest of the cabinetry comes out next, then walls… after we turn off electric and remove existing plumbing… Meanwhile, the temporary kitchen in another room is under wraps, and when I was using it, had to resort to using only 2 small appliances at a time to prevent the breakers from tripping. Our little dog is having digestive problems due to us tearing up her home! What fun!!!! Cpartist: Yay!!!! I’m so very thrilled for you! I say this with heavy work-boots slowing my stride, steel reinforced kneepads digging into my knees, grit in my mouth, and perpetually covered in gray dust… : )...See MoreUnexpected Christmas Shopping
Comments (20)Julie,it's important to him, that's why I felt the need to do it. Every Christmas and birthday. He does go get my Valentine's day stuff though. I guess because it's more of a floofy holiday. I am not sure why he feels such pressure around gifts for me, I love everything he gets for me,because he got it for me. (Well,I was a little salty about the unasked for treadmill I got for Valentine's day a few years ago, but I got over it and love that as well. And he never knew I was salty about it,as I gushed over it and he was so proud of himself for thinking of it himself) He is forever asking me what gift he got me is my favorite. It is and always will be my beloved Sammy, God rest his little furry heart. He is still upset that none of the stuff I ordered for myself will be here for Christmas. I don't know why. Anyway, this morning I took a short nap then went off to get stuff to get through the next few days. Cat food for the beggars, lots of diet cherry coke, some frozen meals for work and a chicken and some brats for SO to grill tommorow. I also got SO a drone with a camera on it,though not the one I wanted to get,as they were sold out of it. I managed to sneak it in and wrap it without him seeing it. I put all the presents under the tree before I left for work. I also got a cute dog stocking and filled it up with his favorite sweets: turtles, peanut mms,kit kats, life savers, stuff like that. He always says I do too much but he is so good to me all year i love to spoil him for Christmas and his birthday....See Morelascatx
