How's your weather today?

After having below freezing temps we are in the 50s today and it's been raining. I spent about an hour on Friday picking up leaves from my oak tree and putting them in my garden beds. The beds were still frozen under about 5 inches.

I can't wait for Spring!! I already have all my seeds, except seed potatoes I ordered. I think I overdid the seed buying this year. Well, I probably do that every year but who cares.

Cloudy, 45-degrees with a good chance of rain later today. At this time of year, I enjoy cozy, cold days. Cloudy days don’t happen here very often, though.

We're getting another winter storm here on the coast of NC. Getting ice, but no snow this close to the coast. Some of the counties just inland from us are getting several inches. It was starting to ice around lunchtime. I told my supervisor around 2pm that I was going home so I could get across the bridges before they iced. Good thing, because several accidents were later reported on the big bridge I use. I was planning to print something out to work on at home, but as I started back to my office the power went out. My office is delayed until 12pm tomorrow, but if things continue as they are I'll be surprised if we open.

Last week we were supposed to get a lot of snow (at least 8 inches). We got 4-5". Today we were supposed to get a "dusting". It has been snowing for hours now. I measured it and 30 min. ago and it was 2 1/2" and is supposed to snow heavier later in the day. I have been listening to my police scanner on my Kindle Fire and there are property damage accidents all over town because the roads are slick. Cars in ditches, etc. I only have to drive 3 blocks to get to my volunteer job at the hospital.

It is up to 64 now at 12:30. Partly sunny at times and breezy yet. I planted more radishes and some carrots in the garden and also pulled up the first five radishes out of my garden. That variety is French Breakfast. I am going to have them for lunch. The radishes I planted today are Crimson Globe. The carrots were Danver's Half Long. The day is getting better. It's about 2ºC right now. Beautiful Chinook weather rolled through Calgary a few days ago and I'm hoping it sticks around at least another week. We already had one deep freeze so this is really nice.

We had a cold front last weekend that brought the lows to the 30s here, and I guess that reset my personal thermostat - now 73F in the house feels HOT!

Nicole, yes, they're working on it. I'm still waiting for a new estimate since they messed the first one up by not adding my military time in. I guess that person went on vacation last week.

Kathsgrdn....I love winter and really do not like summer at all anymore. I don't like a wicked cold where people suffer but I like NORMAL temps and the normal here is 38 for the high this time of year. I also like a little snow and it seems every month breaks a heat record year-round.

It was just right for driving home from a New Year’s weekend visit. Overcast, grey, no glare, no rain, dry roads. And enough fog to make the landscape interesting (“Look how the windmills disappear halfway up!”) but not dangerous. I’m sure we will make up for it with a blizzard in a week or two. Or, it could turn out to be a pretty anemic winter.
