Paint Design Dilemma Bathrooms

What color paint should I go with for my new bathroom?

I'm having a hard time figuring what color paint to use for my gut rehabbed bathroom. I can't use gray since the floor and shower tile is gray. I'm a scaredy cat about using bold colors but there's a part of me that wants to use a super dark green, but I don't know if that would work, and I wouldn't know what kind of green could work. I've also spent a lot money to make this bathroom a spa llike oasis so I don't want to ruin the vibe by going for a color that overwhelms that chill feeling.

I'm attaching schematics of the bathroom, the vanity i'm using and the tile. The big square tile is the shower floor and bathroom floor. The ribbed tile goes vertically on the shower wall to the ceiling. All the finishes are chrome. No natural light, but plenty of recessed lighting.

I'd do a deep warm green in a heartbeat. Approximately........ and no, you won't find YOUR bath on the internet.

It's paint, not a hole in the wall: )

Please rethink that ribbed tile. How are you going to clean it everytime you shower . I am not seeing green with that tile at all. I love the vanity not those tiny shelves . But wall color is a wait until the rest is in place .

A warm off white would look very nice and was my initial thought. It's often my first thought for wall colour these days and I hesitate to suggest it because I worry it's a cop out of some kind. :P Get a test sample jar/can of whatever you're considering and paint it on a few inexpensive art canvas boards so you can try it out on all walls. Take your time to see the colour throughout a sunny and gloomy day's light.

What does the rest of your bathroom look like? I’d do some nice wallpaper, and the rest just like you said. I’m no designer though. Depending on how far down the renovation road you want to go, perhaps consider replacing the floor tile to something more era appropriate? I think alot of bathrooms from this era had chrome (or something like it) hardware...but if you have original hardware that is brass, continue with that. I would think that the latches on the top cupboards will be an indication once you’ve got the paint off, whether the knobs etc should be brass or chrome(?) I’m not even sure whether you have to put the baking soda in...I’ve done it with and without and it’s worked both ways.

Almost any color you like but keep in mind you are not doing this for you. I have no idea why you like a dark bathroom since IMO this and a kitchen need the best light possible

Unfortunately, I don't think you will achieve "light and airy" with any combination of paint without changing the trim. There is nothing wrong with the color scheme that you have, and it works with the trim. My best advice would be to get large fluffy white towels and let them provide the "light and airy". Forget about painting the walls (except for covering up where you've already tested colors!)

When everything is installed start sampling. Look at SW Evergreen Fog and the colors that are darker versions of it. You could always do the sink wall the dark green color and the rest of the walls white if you think all green walls would be too much. I don't think green works against your spa vibe.

Stunning tile choices and lovely wood. (Agree I wouldn't want to clean those tiles, but luckily *I* won't have to, you will!)

I agree to wait unit most of it is in place and then purchase large samples from Samplize and hold them up around the room. Jan nailed it - cozy, moody can be super chill. What you are putting together is a really high end look and you are not going to find good examples of it on Houzz. Look through inspiration pics onArchitectural Digest, 1st Dibs, and Galerie.

Look at Farrow and Ball paint samples, even if you don't end up using that brand. They are good inspiration for nice saturated colors. I think a deep plum color would be beautiful in your space.

I wouldn’t choose TWO gray things at all. Heck, I wouldn’t even choose one gray thing, but that’s just me.

Is there a window in the room? I think it will be so dark and drear. So I’d choose white for every other feature - walls, ceiling, lights, rugs, window treatments, etc. With scarlet red or dandelion yellow towels.

I love wood tones with subdued mid toned greens. I used some SW colors to demonstrate, but honestly, I find a better selection of muted green tones in BM paints.

It will require testing in the space with your flooring and lighting installed to get the perfect color that doesn't get too blue or too gray or too yellow and hits that perfect sweet spot.

I would do a clean white like Zurich white it’s warm and clean looking at the same time. I think unless you go with a really dark green it would work. I would pick an off white

With those very modern, minimal designs of the vanity and the tile, I'd go with white walls. Benjamin Moore's Simply White is very neutral--neither too warm nor too cool--and would work really well with your warm wood vanity.
