What is my Cauliflower doing?
Comments (5)Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Is this buttoning? Probably due to the heat and/or lack of water while sprinklers were being repaired. Are these edible? I am not sure I am brave enough to try!...See MoreWhat's eating my cauliflower?
Comments (2)Yup, I agree with nc-crn, it sure looks like white cabbage butterfly caterpillar damage. Those little green caterpillars really do blend in. If you can't find/smush them all, lol, you can spray the plants with a bacterial slurry (no chemicals) called Bt (Bacillus thurengiensis) which is a type of bacteria that kills only caterpillars. One of several brand names is Thuricide which you can find at most home improvement super stores and good nurseries. Keep us posted. Other than the slight foliage damage, that's a fine looking cauliflower plant! Happy gardening!...See MoreDo I need to protect cabbage, kale, broccoli, cauliflower?
Comments (2)I chickened out and brought a flat of broccoli, cauliflower, and 3 kinds of basil & thyme inside....trying my hand at winter sowing. I had tiny seedlings just above the dirt the other day...I brought them inside and have created an entire flat of lil monsters! the broccoli grew 1 1/2 inches already! The cauliflower grew an inch and the remaining herbs have all "popped". They may have just waited around and continued growing when it warmed up again in I had left them outside, but no! I had to feel sorry for them....now they're spoiled! Warm and cozy inside growing on the kitchen table in front of huge windows. I really need a greenhouse! :)...See MoreWhat's up with my eggplant & cauliflower?

Most varieties of Romaine produce a relatively tight bunch of leaves, but not a head. It also likes temps similar to cauliflower and quits when temps get to eggplant level....See Moredaninthedirt (USDA 8b, HZ9, CentTX, Sunset z30, Cfa)
