I'm getting tired of my daylilies now
Comments (50)Thanks crunchpa, I'm laughing because the only daylily I have is Hyperion. It never occurred to me how they would look in mass like that. I have one lonely one that I just moved that I'm waiting for it to get a little bigger. My garden is pretty much full and not a lot of space left, so I'm not dividing a lot except I'm hoping to divide a lot of shade plants, ferns, heucheras, and epimedium in the fall for a few areas that need a bit more. I also try to plant enough to keep the weeds down, but my garden is so dry from so many surrounding trees that it makes a big difference to have mulch down. Yesterday in my travels, I thought of this thread as I passed gas stations and supermarket parking lots with daylilies of the ditch variety with ugly orange blooms sticking out of yellow ugly foliage. AWFUL! Definitely not the well cared for, hybrid varieties that I'm sure are in many of your gardens. And a single row of daylilies with nothing else, all the same color, along the front of a pretty wall, hiding most of the wall along about a 300 ft span in front of a new housing unit....See MoreOT...I'm Back...I'm Tired...But Happy My Decorating Is All Done!
Comments (9)Wow Jane, I am tired just reading about what all you did! Sounds like a wonderful time and lots of work and effort on your part. What a large group to entertain! So nice that your DH helps you with the decorating. Mine does not help with the inside at all. I carry everything up from the basement including the trees, all the boxes, ladders, etc. The only thing he does outside is put a blow mold Santa on our mailbox, although this year, he did run an extension cord from the backyard for some of the lights as they kept tripping the breaker this year! Again, getting everything down out of the rafters, off of the shelves, and put up is up to me! Sorry, I just needed to vent a little. I get a bit envious when I hear of other DH's that help with decorating. Anyway, looking forward to your pix. TFS, Candy...See MoreI'm thinking to paint all my interior walls
Comments (4)So, with that idea in mind, select a color that you want to copy for your wall accent color. Get samples from SW. And even after you choose a color, buy a sample jug of the paint. Get some poster board and paint two coats of the color and see what you think of the color...not only in daylight, but with lights turned on at night in the room. If it doesn't look quite right, continue with the sampling until you're happy with the color. If you're not sure, invite a friend over to help you decide. We'd love to know how it all turns out!...See MoreI’m tired of my orange kitchen
Comments (6)Agree cabinets are good. New hardware can make a difference. Look at brushed nickel that will look nice with the stainless appliances. A soft white paint color is a good idea. I would remove the valances from the windows/door. Do you have privacy issues there? Edit some of the items on the counters and window sill. Also agree the backsplash isn't working with the counters. Find a simple, solid color tile for the backsplash that blends with the lightest color in the counter (cream?). You have pattern in the counter so I wouldn't add more in a backsplash. It's been awhile since I've seen a wall phone like that! ETA - My apologies for suggestions you didn't ask about. I had backsplash in my head since it's such a common question here....See MoreNicoke Gardner
