The average length of time it takes for this is just 14 seconds. What is it?

---- To determine whether or not you like your Christmas gift!

Today's question is

Assuming Rudolph stays in the front, there are how many ways of arranging the other reindeer? Haha, I certainly don't expect you to get it, it's just a fun question. Take a guess.

    The formula is 8! 8!=40,320.

    (That's 8 factorial - 8x7x6x5x4x3x2x1 = 40,320)

Who knew statistics would be helpful at the KT? lol

  • User

Okay, so with Olive it would be 362,880. Without Olive I agree^^^^ 40,320.

  • Annie Deighnaugh

    Actually I think it's 10,080 = 2x7!

The reindeer are in pairs. There's 7 who can change places if Rudolph has to be in front, so that would be 7! with Rudolph on the left and 7! with Rudolph on the right. If factorials are the right way to figure this...but I don't remember any more.

@Annie Deighnaugh - there are 9 reindeer counting rudolph (Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen).

Annie there are 10 reindeer in total

Dasher · Dancer · Prancer · Vixen · Comet · Cupid · Donner · Blitzen, Rudolph and Olive(the other reindeer)

Olive? ? ? Must be some Canadian poppycock, never heard of it before!

    So I'll agree with mine2x, 40,320.

    Canadian poppycock

Rusty….Olive, the other reindeer, used to laugh and call Rudolph names. I suppose she could have been Canadian. (An American wrote the song)

Jasdip did say this was a fun question.🙂

mine2x....Thanks for explaining it. ❤️ I loved statistics class....& I don't remember any of it....

Oh I see...so yes if Rudolph is by himself in the lead then the answer would be 8!. No idea about Olive...any relation to Olive Oyl?

Hmm, I‘m not sure Annie. She doesn’t sound very nice, though.

I do know Olive is mentioned by name in this song. (around the 36 second mark) Listen.

Only one, because no one is giving up his / her seat.

I thought Rudolph’s girlfriend is Clarice. Never heard of Olive.

All of (Olive) the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names.

Some KTers are a little slow today.

I think Roxsol is messing with Y'all!

Santa is getting even fatter in his old age so there are probably a couple dozen reindeer pulling his sleigh now. So 24! what ever that is.

    Oh thank you, LoneJack!

My dad loved puns and I loved him for that! He was so much fun. 🙂

Jasdip, this was a fun question.

    Exactly, bragu!

And I think she drove him to drink. Hence, the red nose.

He should have stayed with Clarice.

Roxsol, my comment was posted in fun! And the line is "All of the other reindeer. . . .", so excuse me if I didn't get the Olive comment. I'd certainly never heard it before.

Rusty, I think all the posts were in fun. At least I hope so!

You’ve got to admit it is a very funny mondegreen, though. 🤠

I know it always makes me laugh.

    How so Rusty?

  • Rusty

Roxsol, I thought you lived in Canada, and the "Olive" came from you and your dad mishearing the "all of' in the song. Did I misunderstand?

Yes, you did, Rusty. I’d love to give my dad credit for it!

I got it from a childrens book and a Christmas movie about a little dog named Olive.

I thought it was a very funny play on misheard words and it reminded me of jokes my Dad 💕

used to tell my sisters and me when we were young.

Rats, I was hoping you had some evidence it was Canadian or at least a good joke about it. I think it’s kind of clever and certainly not poppycock.

It looks like both the book and movie are American written. I have to give credit where credit is due.

One of my favourite misheard words in songs is in God Save the King/Queen.

There’s a line ”Send her victorious, happy and glorious”

There is a British brand of pears (Victoria’s) and my Dad had us convinced we were supposed to send the queen a basket of fruit to keep her happy. 😁

LOL I suppose it could be to send King Charles fancy underwear now.😁

    Ha!

Okay Jasdip. I think that Rusty and I should get a chili dog just for having fun with this question. 😁

Actually, we should all get chili dogs.

    Great question.👍🏻
