Comments (27)A round table large enough to seat even 8 people would make it almost impossible to get additional seating in the room. Plus, a 72" round means that people across the table from each other cannot converse because they are simply out of range. (a la banquet tables that usually seat 8). I have included a seating guide go give you an idea. Your idea of two 72"x36" tables has the same liabilities and more if you choose a table with 4 legs at the corners because someone would have to staddle a leg at each "end". https://www.countrysideamishfurniture.com/blog/entry/the-complete-guide-to-dining-table-seating-capacity I heartily agree with suezbell who suggests trying all this out for yourself with graph paper and furniture cut outs that are done to scale....See MoreOpen Concept Kitchen Seating Help
Comments (3)Hi Rachel. Lot's of potential here. Before I give you recommendations, I would need to have some more info: 1) Are there kids here? If so, fabric may not be your friend. Leather would be a better choice. 2) Your ideabooks are showing modern and contemporary chairs. Here you show very traditional ones. Which are you wanting? Thanks so much....See MoreHELP: Open plan living, dining & kitchen
Comments (4)That looks like a great apartment! Agree the floor plan as shown makes little sense (TV in the middle of the room??). And not sure you need two tables and counter seating. Do you need a TV? You could do a TV area facing the wall of bedroom 2, a dining area where the breakfast table is and a lounge area facing the balcony (where the couches are on the floor plan - but facing the view)....See MoreHelp decorating long narrow open plan kitchen, dining and living room
Comments (11)Do you have any budget for replacing some pieces? Are you allowed to paint? The room is so dark--one window, dark floor, dark cabinets, and way too much dark furniture. The gray is so gloomy with all that dark furniture. That room needs warm white walls that coordinate with the cabinets. I suggest the following: --Move your living room furniture towards the kitchen area with the upholstered chair facing the window and front door. --Get a small round dining table and put it at the window. Imagine this only minus the banquette. Putting your table there utilizes that space. Drop a clear pendant over the table to let maximun light show through. Ikea has very affordable white tulip tables. Get comfortable, padded dining chairs that can be pulled into the living room. Yep, it means walking from the kitchen a ways with dishes, but that space is wasted right now. A dining table in front of a window is very cozy. --Pull the rug under the sofa so there's a straight, pathway from front door all the way to the back. --Replace massive coffee table with nesting one, up on legs, light top, round shape. This idea: That's all you have room for....See MoreChristine Lydon
