Comments (8)OH!! Do you mean they're a series??? Ohmygosh, I just finished reading one and laughed so much!! I could hardly believe it, because ordinarily I do not read that type fiction at all. Hubby and I were browsing the books at a thrift shop and that was placed on a tabletop, looked "different", so I decided to give it at try, and am so glad I did!! I want to read more!:) It was so funny, and Miss Julia's definitely a hoot!! thanks for posting this thread!...See MoreMotherless Daughters.....has anyone read this?
Comments (25)kathy t - I think that's a fabulous idea. My mother died nine years ago -- one week after 9/11. And just yesterday, as I was walking up the stairs to my bedroom, I thought "I should call Mom." If only I could. We held a memorial service for her in my brother's backyard a month or so after she died. My niece worked with a friend to put together a wonderful video of my Mom's life with pictures of her and my dad, all six of her kids, her 13 grandkids, and two great-grandkids. She also included some music that meant something to all of us. It was truly amazing, and I've watched it many times. This is a quote from C.S. Lewis, that I may have gotten from RP, that really sums up how I feel about the loss of my mother: "With my motherÂs death, all settled happiness, all that was tranquil and reliable, disappeared from my life. There was to be much fun, many pleasures, many stabs of Joy; but no more of the old security. It was sea and islands now; the great continent had sunk like AtlantisÂ" C.S. Lewis And as Edna St. Vincent Millay put it: "The presence of that absence is everywhere."...See MoreMary Lasswell books

Comments (58)I have to say, I’m almost finished painting our kitchen cabinets and next up is painting the walls of our kitchen/LR/entry (yup, the hated open concept, which we love) and I’m typically all about color, but seeing the link in the post has me thinking about a creamy white, so not me, but all the art and collections, which IS me, stands out so nicely, that it’s given me pause, in fact, today I ventured uptown and bought a sample of BM Marscapone to try, and I have to say, I (surprisingly) dig it, and it plays well with the cab color. I think I’ve looked at their rooms 10 times today, so thank you for sharing, Sueb, it really is an inspiring space....See Morelucillle
