Before you do any rips of anything? Spend plenty of time with inspo pics. Of kitchens. What cabinets, and a quartz have at least a billion images. It depends your house, your floor plan your layout, budget, appliances and WHOLE HOUSE flooring on that living level.

Kitchens begin with FUNCTION. They are appliance driven, Storage driven. And yes....flooring is important. Finishes come after a sound and convenient layout.

They do not begin with "white'...gray.....quartz......dark island........etc: )

Hi. My thoughts are that I always try to steer my clients to timeless designs. You can use a timeless design and still add decor that is current and can be changed.

2 items you mentioned in your design are trendy and actually have trended out already: 1) grey floors 2) 2 different cabinet colors

I should say, 2 different cabinet colors are always acceptable if you have a very large kitchen. But, recently, people have been using them in smaller-medium kitchens which feels really chopped up.

Unless you have the $, time, etc, putting trendy products into semi-permanent fixtures is not the best choice.

Use light blond or medium brown flooring and same cabinet color, (unless a very large kitchen).

Also, if possible, use the same flooring throughout a home.

One your timeless kitchen is in, decorate away. You can be as trendy as you want with accent pieces.

I'd say that it's better to choose darker flooring, as it helps with the atmosphere and kinda cloaks the little bits of dirt or dust. And maybe even stay away from the white cabinets too for the same reason. For a farmhouse look and feel I'd recommend getting a Florence knoll sofa replica to place in the living room btw!

Wouldn't recommend using brown cabinetry with grey flooring. Grey and brown don't usually mix in a harmonious way.

Hi! You have chosen interior style and know what you like - it's good. But first step is always looking at the physical characteristics of the space. Room size, ceiling height, windows and doors location, proportions, amount of natural light.

Think about interior as a dress. Walls, windows, ceiling alltogether is a body. Every body is unique, and clothes should fit. If your goal to make a makeover on budget, start from collecting images on pinterest. Look for spaces similiar to your's!

This is poor advice. Darker flooring shows every speck of dust and crumbs glaringly against it. You will have just vacuumed or swiffered, and one crumb will make the whole floor look dirty because it stands out starkly against a dark floor. For a lower maintenance floor, a natural stain on the wood is better. Furthermore, since flooring is a horizontal surface covering a great deal of area, if it is dark it will swallow light. So it would only "help with the atmosphere" if you want your space to be darker.

Please say why you feel a Florence Knoll sofa has a farmhouse look and feel. While I love Florence Knoll furniture, I have never heard them described as farmhouse. They also are not that comfortable, but they are beautiful.

Just want to add that professional photos can be a guide or inspiration, but beware of wanting exactly the same look: colors look different on every monitor, and SO many photos are over exposed / desaturated / brightened, making the colors even less true to life. (Watch for things like items in the background or out a window to be faded/blurred to oblivion... a sign of filtering.) What matters is how things look in YOUR home in different lighting/times of day, so bring home plenty of samples.
