Honed carrera vs polished carrera?
Comments (7)I have a Restoration Hardware vanity with their honed carrera marble top. So far, no stains, but I do not use much of any products in there that might stain. The crate said that the top has been sealed. You definitely want to seal marble. I would imagine that some more harsh products (like hair color, etc) would certain stain marble. You also need to worry about etching, which is (as I understand) caused by products that are not pH balanced (certain cleaners, etc). As a result, I specifically selected some hand soap that is pH balanced. When installing a new mirror a few weeks back, I was wearing a new pair of dark denim shorts. Leaning over the vanity, I ended up rubbing off a LOT of blue dye onto the marble top. I was very concerned that the stain might be permanent, but it wiped off with just water on a rag. Overall I am really pleased with the look of the vanity and have not had any problems (with staining or etching). The vanity is stunning, especially the marble top. I intend to continue to be careful with the marble and hope for the best, although I know at some point I will likely get a stain or etching....See MoreHoned vs. Polished Marble
Comments (1)The polished will look alot better..... for a few weeks. Even sealer won't stop etching. The honed will look much better over time, unless you don't mind your polished stone developing a "personality"....See MoreHoned vs. Polished cararra, my experience so far...
Comments (3)I am at the countertop decision phase and it is killing me. I want soapstone perimeter and carrera island. Both have MAJOR issues but I love "the look." I feel like if I chose (ex. honed jet mist granite) it would be an imitation of soapstone look even though I know granite is natural stone etc... I am tempted to hone and antique the finish of my (not yet mine) 5 cm. carrera and then pour tomatoe juice over it and call it a day. An architect friend did this and it greyed the marble, but it looks AMAZING over her tobacco green cabinets! I am also debating between off white or gray cabinets. Anyone out there have gray cabinets? Also person who used carrera what did you use on your island. THANKS!...See MoreHoned or Polished marble backsplash?
Comments (2)I feel that with a polished backsplash, it will add some shine and brightness to your kitchen. What kind of appliances do you have?...See Moremlmead37
