This is the kitchen that has been in my brain for at least 10 years, and here you have gone and done it perfectly!!! I'm going to Pinterest the bejebbers out of it as inspiration photos for the coming renovations (as soon as I finish all these pesty bathrooms!). Seriously, I have wanted a 4 oven Aga plus a module for ages. I already have the full 601 fridge & freezer (so a little bigger than your Subzero.) And I plan to put a big barrel hood over it all. And you have a big island with not huge aisles! And you have soapstone! I really think we're channeling the same frequencies. I'm totally in love with your butler's pantry! We didn't inherit one, but I may use the cabinet sliding door idea for the walk-thru pantry I'm planning. It solves my problem of a tight space and not really wanting all open shelves! I love the new wall color--it definitely warms up the space! I also think the picture looks much better lowered--less like it's "floating in space." However, because the picture is small in relation to the wall above your sofa, I think you could improve that space even more if you put something on either side of the picture, such as wall sconces with candles, dried floral arrangements (similar to the one you had to the right of the picture originally), some pretty plates on sconces, etc. Also, the pillows are very pretty, but to me, they have an "elegant" look with their silkiness that clashes with the more "country" look you have going with your nice plaid sofa, oak end table, etc. Some textured pillows in the same color would look great, especially with a nubby throw over one side of the sofa. That would just say warmth and would be so cozy, just right for fall. You have a great start.

I have considered using a rug, but with the holidays quickly approaching, I will wait until January to think about it. I'm not sure how to coordinate with the rug in the LR since the whole area is an L-shaped LR/DR. I also like the ease of clean-up and the ease of moving the chairs with the felt pads with the bare wood floor.

CABINETS: Maple, plywood construction. Unknown Chinese manufacture. PAINT: SICO Sketch Paper in Pearl finish - 6206-21 BUDGET: 18K, and I installed the backsplash myself to save $800. Edge of backsplash (I'm pointing it out because I did something a little different!). I build the edge up to the ceiling line.
