Strawberries in Containers - Does this sound okay?
Comments (2)That's about right. I find that if you add more plants you get more but smaller fruit, so the weight/volume of the harvest isn't much affected, and the plants will be happier in the larger containers. Strawberries like moisture, but don't like wet feet/insist on good drainage, so you might wish to add a wick or take steps to ensure your soil drains freely & holds very little perched water. Comments (5)Are you wondering if it's safe, do-able or worthwhile? I've candied fruits using the basic method described, though usually in stage #1 the fruit is gently simmered in the syrup. Of course, fruit presents different density and water-content issues than peppers. So reading through the description, it is definitely do-able. I think whether it's worth doing depends on how well you and the members of your circle like chile peppers and how open they are to eating chocolate-covered peppers or whatever the application might be. The candied habanero cheesecake does sound interesting. Carol...See MoreCan anyone tell me if this sounds okay?
Comments (87)I'm disappointed that the salesman has not replied to my last email. I'm going to write one more time and wanted to cut and paste the appropriate directions from the Honeywell installation guide. Can you tell me which of the following systems I have with a/c, gas furnace, and heat pump? (I'm confused as to whether "duel fuel" means 2 stage or if "stage" refers to something else.) Standard Heat/Cool Heat Only Heat Only with Fan Heat Only Series 20 Cool Only Standard Multistage up to 2 Heat/2 Cool Heat Pump with No Auxiliary Heat Heat Pump with Auxiliary Heat A retired HVAC guy who owns the HW 8321 told me: "Most heat pump systems are two stage, with the first stage being the compressor and the second stage the electric heat section. with a single stage system the w2 terminal is not connected." So I'm wondering if this is what I can tell the salesman--that all they have to do is not connect the w2 terminal??? Thanks!...See MoreHow does this menu sound?
Comments (18)You know my folks are getting up in years too and I have found that a lot of fuss for gatherings isn't necessary anymore, they just don't have the energy for it. For example at Christmas we just did ham and baked sweet potatoes and salad and canned cranberry sauce. That was fine enough. Mom got all upset after the meal because she forgot to put the pies in the oven and dad and I just said, "Hey, we're full enough and a Christmas cookie or small dish of ice cream is plenty for dessert." They will appreciate the time spent with you though. The menu sounded fantastic BTW. My friends have a big New Year's open house every year with a similar menu. Cider is good, but you can also mix it with cranberry juice, which makes it have a little kick to it. That's what I do. That also mixes cold with ginger ale for a punch too! I use apple brandy for a mixer with hot cider. That's yum. Cinnamon schnaps is good too. I have some rum issues, lol! Got really sick on it once. Maybe make some cute cupcakes for your dad. You can always freeze any extras....See Moremtnrdredux_gw
