I think your description describes empathic perception and understanding rather than what some think of as "intuition".

Men's and women's brains are so different. Maybe I reached that conclusion from living with a male for many decades but hearing other stories, I tend to believe it. Women rely on their senses more and their intuition.

The Briggs Myer test evaluates how much one relies on intuition, perception, thinking, etc., and all types are found in both men and women. However, my type (ENTP) is twice as common in men as it is in women, and its opposite (ISFJ) is twice as common in women as in men.

Senses (perception) and intuition are two completely different things. Senses rely on empirical input whereas intuition does not. According to this test, women tend to be more judgemental than men, which might be based on intuition and can be unreliable.

Female intuition -- I'm female but never claimed to be particularly intuitive. Although early in marriage I almost convinced DH I could read his mind. See, there was just one chocolate chip cookie left downstairs. He came upstairs to help with laundry and I could tell by the look on his face he'd eaten the cookie. I accused, he admitted, we made up :-)

I believe everyone has it to a certain extent. Females seem to be more atuned to unspoken cues probably because they were raised that way. They are taught to anticipate what their family and loved ones want and provide it without being asked or sometimes even knowing that it was needed.

My mother was one of those. "You should have known I needed it or it needed to be done" even if the 'to be done' was something she insisted that she would do. I learned early to anticipate how people would react and what would cause things to happen as the did before they happened. Sometimes I could prevent things other times I simply had to allow them to happen.

I think you're thinking of days gone by long, long ago, perhaps when your parents were children. There were sons and daughters in my generation in my family, and my wife and I raised sons and daughters. Daughters weren't treated differently or given different coaching for life aspirations than sons were.

No Elmer, I am not thinking about days long gone but now. Has nothing to do with children being treated any differently but expectations. Perhaps if you would actually speak to the female members of your family without expectations. Too late now since your daughters should be adults but if you have grand or great grand children watch them if in social settings. It might be an eye opener.

If you ever have guests do you notice if they need anything and act on it or is it your wife that does so first.

When I was 13 and my mother was on our porch in Michigan, nusrsing my baby brother she told me that my grandmother (her mother) had just died. And I asked my Mom if my grand mother had killed herself, ane she said "yes'". It was a chilling, short prescient comunnication that I'll never forget.

I have always felt that I’m quite intuitive, more so than my husband. But I don’t know if that’s due to being female. Aside from usually being able to tell how a person is feeling, I also have had some pretty amazing predictions that have come true. For example, a good friend and I were pregnant at the same time. But due a month aart. I had a feeling and told her several times that we would be in the hospital together. Well, I was three weeks late and she was 2 weeks early and we did go in hours apart. Another time my SIL lived out of town, and was pregnant. One day out of the blue, I said I knew ahe had the baby that day. Sure enough. it was true.

Your previously expressed anti-male biases are recalled with comments like that. For those who consider the equality of the sexes a fact not subject to interpretation, provisos or caveats, as I and so many fair thinking people do, espousing equality but suggesting any superiority for this and another for that is contradictory and feeds the opposing view. There are gender differences in attitudes, reactions, preferences, interests, etc but not in perceptions or the ability to understand things.

I chose justice based on mercy is not needed if there is justice, that was my thinking.

I do not believe in intuition of any kind. Behaviour based on knowledge and experience, yes; some kind of magical sense, absolutely not.

I don't think it is a magical sense either, floral. We just don't have an understanding yet of the full capabilities of human mind. We can't explain how people know things that have happened or are about to happen, so we randomly call it magic.

I think of intuition as our unconscious mind responding to things. Our brains are always busy, and we're not aware of all of its activity.

I don't think of it as women's intuition. I believe there are extra senses that we have had that, over time, have been tucked away and ignored. To the point that in many people, they no longer exist. But in others, they have been .. if not embraced, at least they've been accepted .. and society tries to put a name on it to make it less than it is.

Do I have facts, figures, studies, official findings? No. I have my own experiences and that of people in my family or friends. And I would accept these much more readily than any official finding.

So do I believe in intuition? Yes. Do I believe in other abilities, such as empaths and mediums? Yes. Do I have these abilities? Just a tinge, but wish I had more.

Adding that I'm pretty sure the phrase 'women's intuition' was originated by men...

I recall my mom told me that once a woman has become a mother she becomes much wiser.

It certainly helps for a woman to intuit the world around her in ways that men dont have to. Not a good thing if you ask me but it is what it is.

Elmer, no matter how you raise your daughters you cant control the rest of the world they live in. That cuts more than one way. It certainly would behoove any female to keep an eye out. It is not an equal world out there.

Following what Patriciae just wrote, I think women develop a 'sense' about people and situations better than men. I honestly don't think this is intuition but 'a sense.'

As a female growing up in NYC, I learned at an early age how to read people and situations.

I was raised by my mother as my father died when I was 6. My mother never drove so I took public transportation from a young age. I've had experiences that made me grow up quickly.

I think I'm pretty good about reading people and feeling comfortable/uncomfortable in certain situations or with certain people. I never had magical dreams or sightings.

I do trust my 'instinct' about things and have found I've mostly been right.

Amy Schumer's recent visit to SNL says it all. At her house they play a game "Is it autism or is it male"? About how her husband who was recently diagnosed responds to certain day to day normal situations. We all have a radar. We keep ourselves safe by paying attention to it. It's part of our animal brain. God is good in his creation!!!

When I was kid I told my mom I could read minds, to play a trick on her. No one used turn signals in our town. The car in front of us, "Is it turning right or going straight? " Well....if the drivers head is bobbing side to side...they're turning right.....if the driver is sitting there calmly waiting for the light to change....going straight. 😂 Dumb...huh....I don't have the intuition gene.
