I really like the look of white oak flooring but still on the lighter side, but I wasnt sure if I needed more if a contrast in wood and color and was also looking at a light brown hickory that didnt have a ton of variation what are your thoughts on having the flooring contrast the cabinets or having it blend with the cabinets

Thank you.. I love the contrast with the darker oak cabinets and lighter flooring in the pic above but our kitchen is small so we are trying to go lighter. We are flying solo on the flooring We have reputable cabinet maker who will create anything we ask for and has given us design ideas. We are turning our penisula into an island and swapping fridge and oven to allow for a range hood. In order to do this we are pushing the kitchen into an adjoing room with a fireplace and building in a beverage center to tie in with the kitchen (see old kitchen photos below) the new flooring will span the entire first floor.

IMO the cabinet maker makes the cabinets that the KD designs . As for the color what was the reason for white oak if you want it to look like something else . I have no problem in a small space with cabinets and floor the same and then a nice counter I need to see the plan in a to scale floor plan .

I do appreciate the above comments from the pros on the design and flooring. We have never liked the flow in the kitchen and have worked with different contractors and 2 designers through the years (a span of 10 as we renovated different areas of the house) to get ideas, and help draw up kitchen designs but were never ready to pull the trigger financially. Now we have to replace the flooring so it makes sense to do it all at once. We are looking into getting someone as you suggested

but can you tell me why the design is bad? I am attaching 2 photos of the design.
