Thanks, Rosa! We do have a great time at our annual quilting retreat at Camp Cheerio! This is the biggest group yet - so I guess the word is finally getting out. It is a good distance to travel for many of our members, but the camp is such a great place for this kind of retreat and very reasonably priced. Maybe someone here wants to take on the challenge of organizing a retreat in another area of the country? Or in Canada? As I am the person who found Camp Cheerio, I can give you a few pointers: ~ venue needs to have sleeping facilities for 8 to 15 quilters and maybe a few private rooms for couples ~ meals provided are a plus; less time will be taken from sewing and members will have a real vacation if they don't have to cook or do dishes ~ venue needs to have a large space to set up tables and chairs (provided by the venue) for sewing, cutting, laying out quilts to sandwich, and playing games; this space would ideally be separate from other groups and we must be able to lock it up for security ~ venue needs to be reasonably priced so more members will participate. Places are out there....you just need to be willing to spend time surfing the internet to find them and maybe driving to check them out! Safe travels to all who are driving and/or flying to Camp Cheerio in the coming week. Make sure you have some cell phone numbers of other campers just in case! Teresa

Ok, gals, We are finalizing the plans for Retreat. The 10th annual 2015 Quilt Retreat will be held Sep. 3- 6, 2015, Thurs thru Sun. We will be using the Guenther Lodge at the Holston Retreat Center as mentioned & linked in the previous posts. These are hotel style rooms, some with private baths, some with semi-private. The rooms share the same building as the sewing space, which also has a complete kitchen. Cost will be $75 per person, per night unless you decide to share a room, in which case you can split the costs. As we get closer, we will work out our private meal plan, and will let you know the cost of food for the weekend....I don't expect it to be significant. There will be a $50 deposit to secure your spot. It would be helpful for planning purposes, if you would put that in the mail to Beverly promptly, since we need to pay a deposit to the retreat center. You can message her directly if you need her mailing address. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask here. We understand that the change in weekend precludes some 'regulars' from coming. We will certainly miss you, but hope that 2016 we will be able to pick a weekend with more notice so that you can come! I am bringing pimento cheese and chicken salad for lunches. Also bringing a machine for Sue. I will bring my Accuquilt dies so that we have more dies available. Since I am the closest to camp, I will probably be first one there or close to it. I may stop in Kingsport, TN and have breakfast with a friend. Does anyone need any certain color of fabric for a project? I am in need of purple 2.5" strips if anyone has any. I am doing a scrappy Jamestown Landing in purples. If anyone finds my stylus that Marsha gave us at Retreat a few years back, please let me know. I have lost it...I know it is in something around here! LOL Every time I sit down to sew I miss it.
