Sevin, Carbaryl, is quite toxic and is not meant to be used in the house. Nothing I have ever found about controlling grain, pantry, or Indian moths has ever recommended spraying with Carbaryl inside the house. As long as the adult moths can mate and lay eggs in a food source, grains, flour, cereals, etc. they will be present. One method of control is to put these materials in a 155 degree oven for 20 to 30 minutes, which will kill any eggs and larva as well as any adults. Moth cakes from Fuller Brush work well to protect clothes in closets. A few minutes out of the closet there will be little or no smell to clothes. (I am not connected with Fuller Brush in any way.) Freezing clothes or other items will kill silverfish, moths, and eggs. I have frozen clothes and items in a large chest type freezer for a week or two with success. Roach Proof is boric acid and works well. As another poster mentioned, puff it into all cracks and crevices of closets.

I have found some herbal moth repellent sachets. I don't know if they work, though. You might try the moth traps, too. I use them in my pantry. They DO work. http://www.pantrymothtrap.com/ Everyone swears by bay leaves in the pantry, maybe if you hung nets bags full of bay leaves in your closets it would repel critters. Spiders, I don't know a natural solution. When I moved into this house 21 years ago it was infested with fat little brown house spiders of some sort. In the summer they would come out at night and crawl up the walls and the ceiling. I found one swimming in my bedside water glass early one morning. I've ignored two warning signs about moths. One was SEEING them! And the other was having a sweater that kept getting holes in it. I put lavender and some cedar in my closet but the holes continued. I called a pest control company and the woman told me there was nothing they could do. She said the only solution was to take every single thing out of my closet and dry clean it or wash it...all at the same time. She also told me that I had to use MOTHBALLS which I know are toxic. I have a new grandson who comes here. Plus I sleep in my bedroom and don't want the smell on me or my clothes. I'm wondering if the holistic methods work to get rid of the moths or they simply repel them. Has anyone tried using that thing that sucks the air out of plastic bags in which you store things... that is after your stuff is clean? Also what do moth larva look like??? Why am I seeing them flying around my computer in a room that has very few clothes. And... if you cleaned out your closet, did you do EVERY closet in your house???
