Comments (11)big max, prize winner, and dills atlantic giants are all the same plant (Cucurbita maxima). just that the atlantic giant have ben breed to grow bigger. but there are some thangs you can do to get them to grow bigger. first bury the vines. at every leaf you will get a bottom root, but when buried they will have a root from bottom and top of the vine. second limit the number of fruit to plant. i have seen some big max with just one fruit that was close to 300lbs. hope this helps....See MoreHow to hold an online contest?
Comments (18)I wrote my response earlier today, and then my computer crashed before I got to the Preview Message. I agree with the ideas you have. When the backsplash contest happened it was a call for entries--and you submitted your photo of the space that you wanted to use the product. Then a "committee" decided what space would be the best choice to showcase the product. You could have other bloggers help with the decision. The rules of the contest involved a guarantee of photos of the tile installed. I guaranteed this by providing a credit card, which I used to purchase additional backsplash tile anyway. If I ended up not using the tile and not providing the photos, then my card would have been charged the cost of the items. It makes sense...you want something out of it. I got some great tiles and they ended up with great photos that have been used in all sorts of blogs and online sources. The photos were professionally taken and paid for by the tile company. If you do random drawing, you can give an extra "chance" if they post it with a link on their facebook page, and also if they "tweet" it. You could also make there be a minimum number of entries needed, so people will have to get the word out. Good luck!...See MoreShare Your Contest Style with Ben. Moore

Comments (39)Hi, sorry I have not checked back in a couple of days. I assumed this thread was dead. :) Tamara, thank you for checking on that. I did hear back from the head of the shelter. She gave no indication if she already knew about the prize money, or not. Below is a bit from her email "Thank you so much for thinking of the animal shelter. Yes, both gifts will help do repairs that need to be done to the building, painting and caulking. You are greatly appreciated for naming the animal shelter as your charity. Hope you have fun with your room make over. " I have an ulterior motive for wanting to go to the shelter to present the cards. I may have to come back home with a new dog. :) DH would strangle me, but I think that my JRT, Riley, needs a playmates. Tina - Susanna mentioned burgundy to go with the bedding. If I went with the Toile, I could put splashes of black in the room to justify the black doors. I'm just not sure about painting them, and DH has already said "no" to that idea. Another good thing about using red Toile is that I can incorporate the red and black model airplanes into the room. I saw some red Toile bedding at SteinMart that I liked. It was very oriental looking. The problem I am having, is finding bedding in twin sizes. Looked all over the mall and most of what we liked, only came in Queen/King. Guess I will be ordering when the time comes. I just need to keep the price down. I thought I had come up with a richer wall color, although I'd have to have SW match the color. It's BM Mystic Gold, but now I am afraid that would be too brown. I need something between my BM Decatur Buff (a gold tan,) and the BM Concord Ivory that is currently on the walls. Any suggestions for a SW color that is a richer gold than what I have?...See Morerubyclaire
