Cabinet Pull Size for Kitchen Cabinets

I have a bank of 33" draws right next to a bank of 30" drawers. If I follow the 1/3 rule, I would need 10" pulls on the 30" - but, what do I do for the 33"? Do I keep the same since the drawers are right next to each other, or do I increase to 12"?

Also, I have a 36" wide floor to ceiling pantry two panel cabinet. What size handles do I use (the top part will be a knob since it is a shorter door) ?

This is really subjective and there really is no right or wrong answer! With just a 3" difference I would probably just do them all the same.

Look at photos on Houzz to see what looks good to you.

Myself, I don't like pulls that are too short (old look), double pulls (even older look) and pulls that are nearly the full width of a drawer (too modern and all you notice is pulls)! Told you it was subjective!

I like pulls to be in proprtion to the cabinet it takes some time to figure out that layout I use painters tape cut to the size I think works Sometimes it is also a good idea to not do all one direction This a great pic to show what I mean I for sure never put 2 pulls on a drawer.

Viking: We are putting on 6" pulls for all the 24" cabs (we have only upper cabs) and 8" pulls for the 27 inch drawers (for cutlery and pots and pans). I wondered the same thing as far as what common lengths to use, etc. and finally ended up getting a couple of pulls that we liked in the 6" and 8" lengths and they were perfect! We have a small kitchen so didn't have to deal with different size cabs or drawers.

Is there a standard rule or "formula" for deciding on what size of cab pull or drawer pull to use? Our 4 upper cabs will all be 24 inches wide, 36 inches tall with 4-6 inch crown molding and our drawers plus 2 cabs in the base cabs will also be 24 inches wide (small cottage kit). What do you all recommend? This would be for a white, shaker-style cab and drawer. Would love to see pics if available. Thanks very much!

Why not check out Lee Valley for stainless bar pulls that come in many sizes. IMO pulls should be in proportion to the cabinet door or drawer. I can’t even see a 5” pull working to open a 40” drawer properly and if you need 2 they look silly.

I have the same issue, Becky. What size did you wind up using and do you feel it is the right size? @stuartcas, I went with the 8-13/16" pull. I think it is the perfect size relative to the dishwasher panel and it holds a dish towel nicely. My dishwasher is next to a farm sink, so I'd really regret it if I'd gone for the smaller one since that is the only place to hang a towel near that sink. Had I gone any bigger, I think it would look odd in my kitchen. A longer one might look nice in a modern kitchen though.

Yes- def doing single pulls on drawers and knobs on doors. Guess just wondering if I size up on the 33” drawers if they are sitting NEXT to a bank of 30” drawers OR use the same size pull for both for uniformity? Doing the 1/3 rule!

The drawers are close enough in size that the pulls could all be the same size and look good. But if you have any doubts about which size pull, you can either make aluminum foil pulls in the two sizes and hold them up against the drawers, or you can buy one of each size of the pulls and see how they look. That should not be too expensive. Some of the hardware websites such as Top Knobs, allow you to get 2 or 3 samples, and then when you place your order you receive credit for the sample items you did not keep.
