What size cabinet pull for cabinets to ceiling?

Hi, I was originally planning on doing bar pulls on my cabinets which are shaker and go up to the ceiling. Then I picked out some pendants that have a small "s curve" to them.

So in my search for hardware, I found some s curve pulls that I like, but they only come in 96 & 128mm sizes. I can only get the 96mm locally and when I hold them up to the doors, they are too small visually (my builder guy said they were too "dainty" for the tall cabinets, lol). I'm thinking I need a 6-8 inch pull for my upper cabinets, but haven't found anything besides a bar pull that would stay in my transitional view and work size wise. Is there a rule of thumb for how big pulls should be, based on the size of the cabinets? Anyone have any other suggestions, or know where I might be able to get an "s pull" in a longer size? My pulls vary on the uppers, from a 3" bunny head to a 5" bar pull. Some just have fat knobs. I personally don't like the look (unless it's a really modern kitchen) of long bar pulls on the upper cabinets. It's not like you need to grab several inches to open the door.

My cabinets are shaker (modified style but close) and go up to the ceiling. The pulls I have are bulky but not super long (which would look awful with the other pulls in my kitchen).

igloochic, thanks for the reply. Do you have any pics of your pulls? I did a search and saw some of your beautiful kitchen in various stages, but not your pulls.

Anyone else have shaker style cabs that go to ceiling? What pulls did you end up with?

We used 8" handles on the majority of our cabs and drawers--some doors/drawers are larger and some smaller. However, the 12" wide drawer next to the range got a 5" handle, as the 8" would have been a bit much IMHO. We also used three 12" handles in our kitchen; on the wide lift-up door above our fridge, on the DW, and on trash can cab. The best way to tell how you'll like the look of a particular size is to hold samples in the different sizes next to the doors and drawers. That's how we ended up with the sizes we ended up choosing.

I need to know whether to buy the 4.5" or 6" pull for these 57" tall ET center left and right doors and where should they be placed? Cabinet pulls & Dishwasher appliance pull size?

I have the same issue, Becky. What size did you wind up using and do you feel it is the right size? @stuartcas, I went with the 8-13/16" pull. I think it is the perfect size relative to the dishwasher panel and it holds a dish towel nicely. My dishwasher is next to a farm sink, so I'd really regret it if I'd gone for the smaller one since that is the only place to hang a towel near that sink. Had I gone any bigger, I think it would look odd in my kitchen. A longer one might look nice in a modern kitchen though.

Our upper cabinets are about 52" tall, and we used 6" tranisitional pulls from Top Knobs (M513). It looks like they have your desired pulls on page 39 of their catalog. They have lots of different styles, and they're very good quality, so you might want to browse their catalog to see what if there's something else you like. Good luck!

I have cabinets up to the ceiling (9' ceiling, upper cabinets are 47.5" with the remainder being crown moulding) and we just have 1.25" knobs. I know this isn't for what you asked as you're after pulls, bu you don't have to have a big pull for a long cabinet door. Aesthetics might be a different matter, but practicality -- no worries!

My uppers go to the ceiling, but that's only 7'6".

I used bar pulls mounted vertically. After a lot of experimentation, I finally decided on 10" for all of the uppers. This was short enough to work on the smallest cabinet (above the frig). And I decided using the same on all looked better than varying based on cabinet height.

But YMMV.
