Thanks. It has been a very vigorous, healthy tree but is quite the sight now. Harvestman, I did exactly what you prescribed this year. In March, I gave it a dormant oil/copper spray. It later got two sprays with Immunox and Triazicide--altho' the last may have come too late. It is strange that none of my other apples were affected at all. Still, we had an unholy amount of rain/cold weather followed by near 100 degree days. We had terrible ice last winter and severe storms all spring and have had wind damage to a lot of my trees' new growth. I have never done much fall spraying but may give at least this one a dose.

Simple enough to confirm. Call them up and ask. Untill a new owner transfers title, DMV can't update their info any further so your name is still the last listed owner. When they got your form, they flagged it noting you no longer have the vehicle. That does not remove your name from the list. With any proof at all that you sold the vehicle, you don't owe anything. The towing company can sell the car to recover their alledged loss. It can be retitled via the 'lost title' process. That will require a signature from you . That's about it. The only risk to you as the last listed owner would be if some d*ck head alledges they were injured in an accident with this car. They may sue you because you're the one they can find. Waste of time on their part if you notified DMV. That might require you hire a lawyer to make sure all the paper work they throw at you is processed properly. That would be as far as it goes. Been there, done that.

I would think that after two years, the gas is too stale for the car to even start or run - so best of luck here.. An excellent idea,lamguy, pull the plugs and shoot some oil in the cylinders - but this should have been done two years ago ( a fogging operation).. Best to change all the fluids before running the car.. Maybe pull the rotors and drums and remove the rust - if necessary... If the car was stored in a conditioned area, you are in good shape...

While that is usually true it wouldn't work in my situation. I didn't want to negotiate a private sale with a complete stranger. I didn't want to give out my name and address and have strangers come to my home. Plus there's no way I'd get in the car with someone I didn't know for a test drive and I couldn't just hand the keys over and let them drive it away. So for me trading it in at the dealership was the safest - and I was fortunate that this salesman not only wanted to sell a new car but really wanted to purchase mine. I did my research and knew the value of my trade in before visiting the dealers. 3 years ago it just didn't occur to me that such a minor scrape could have cost me thousands of dollars. This could easily have been a real lose of money and value and one which the insurance companies wouldn't reimburse me for. I thought I'd relate this in case it might help someone else.
