Comments (12)An induction stove is the adaptation of a 150 year old technology using an oscillating magnetic field. It's not different or new, and speeding up the oscillation to 2450 Mega hertz you'll have a microwave. The Oscillating field required is strong with a high frequency and why people with pacemakers are advised to stay away from these ovens, because they're not shielded like a microwave is. The additional parts required to produce the oscillating magnetic field are numerous and just more parts to fail. Notice the fan? Yep you'll hear it well until one day you won't because it failed. The fan and heat sink in the bottom left indicates heat build up under the ceramic glass that can also break and scratch if you're just a little too careless on it. The parts you see are for each burner, not the entire top. Forget about using a Wok, they won't work good, the pans must be flat and the right size, and the strong oscillating magnetic field will interfere with other electronic devices near the stove, again the field is NOT shielded, cell phone?. Keep Aluminum foil away from the cook top, it will react like aluminum foil in a microwave and melt to the cook top permanently damaging the ceramic glass. I see a grave yard full of induction stove tops in the future, it's a gizmo gadget designed for failure. One last thing, the top is going to hum, a nice little hum just like a microwave but not as loud....See MoreInduction Range Opinions Please!
Comments (10)We were shopping for a slide-in just this week and went to a really large store here in our large metro area. They have tons of different models. While we had initially been planning on paying more, after looking at a number of these in person, we decided that we think we will get this highly rated but very inexpensive (in comparison to the others) Frigidaire. https://www.reviewed.com/ovens/content/frigidaire-gallery-fgih3047vf-induction-range-review I have read lots of reviews and comments here on Houzz of many different induction ranges, and one comment stuck with me. That guy was complaining about the repair costs he had incurred with a more expensive induction range. He said if he had it to do over again he would buy a good-performing less expensive range and then just replace it rather than pay for all the expensive repairs....See MoreApplicance help
Comments (5)More generically, I suggest that you write down your requirements in categories such as size, performance, cost, aesthetics, reliability, service (e.g., can you get service for candidate brands where you live) and delivery. Using these, initially narrow down the brand choices using some extensive appliance site such as AJ Madison and the web sites for brands you know or discover. The candidates that meet all of the requirements can then be evaluated with respect to details. This may need to be a recursive process because as more is learned in the research the new information may affect the requirements....See More- last year
