Comments (10)Not sure if you've seen the RH items in person or are going off the web? Since you have a smaller bath, here's what I said to another poster: I stopped into a RH yesterday to assess the bath hardware in person. One thing that struck me was the SCALE of most of the lines they had -- lots of metal, substantial projections etc. Good for some, but I felt several were just too much for my small bath. Asbury and Chatham were two that seemed more proportionate for my needs. I'd add that I am also using polished chrome faucets etc. I knew several of the RH items only came in nickel, but didn't think I'd mind the mix. However, when I pulled out my faucet to assess the mixed finishes -- good thing my handbag was big! -- I found I really didn't like the interaction -- the RH nickel is beautiful but skews much more yellow than other PN I've seen (thinking here of Schoolhouse Electric and Rejuvenation). Perhaps it's something for you to consider? If so, the good news is the smaller-scale lines I referenced above come in PC....See MoreCan't do a Cote de Texas size re-do?
Comments (75)I like the Cote de Texas blog. It's a lot like.... me : ). Let me explain that. My mom is French. I was born in the states but my first language was french. When I was 6 we moved to France for my Dad's job and lived there for about 3 years. We then moved to Austin, TX where I lived for 8 years until I went to Houston for college. I attended grad school in the TMC and met my husband in Houston. In all I lived in the Houston area for 19 years until DH and I moved with the kids to the Carolinas in 2008. I'm French and I'm a Texan (thus the username "southernfrenchie".) I get that Joni's style is not for everyone. It is definitely french with over the top TX flair. She definitely works with the upper crust. While I appreciate her blog I myself prefer a lot more color. Those photos are eye candy for me - a glimpse into how the other half lives. I can get an idea here or there - and will figure out how to implement it on my Home Goods budget : )....See MoreUpdate & Progress Pics on DD's Vintage/Shabby BR
Comments (36)justgottabeme: That is a very sweet story about your Mom. DD seems to enjoy having my attention on her room--sometimes before she'd get annoyed when I spent so much time on "decorating." What I am doing is sifting through the myriad of choices to 1-3 choices which I think are acceptable in terms of cost, color and durability and have let her make the final choice. Having this forum as a sounding board to determine the options is very helpful, but for the most part I try to let her make the choices. The JCP rug is a tad smaller than I'd like, though bac717 brought up a good point that with JCP returns are not a problem. I may actually work from the chair fabric backwards and see which fabric she chooses then choose the opposite color for the rug since we have two options. One concern I have with the dotted fabrics is that they are all 100% cotton--and perhaps not the most durable choice for the seat cushion. Here are some of the ones from the Susan Sargent line I thought could work. The first two are woven and look to be of a heavier weight. cartwheel: 54% cotton, 46% polyester, woven jacquard medley: 60% cotton, 40% rayon, woven linen dot: 100% cotton, printed...See MoreHelp select RH mirror and sconces for guest BR (pic)
Comments (2)les917- Thank you so much for responding to my post. I have always admired your eye for detail and design. You are a truly talented and gifted person. It is wonderful that you have shared your talent with so many other people like myself. I love the mirror that you selected. The only concern I have is it's size. Do you think it would be o.k. to use with the small pedastal sink? -I love that you picked up on the sink handles when considering the sconces....See Moremtnrdredux_gw
