Help!!! Kitchen Cabinet paint color!?
Hi! I'm in desperate need of help and opinion. We are renovating our kitchen. I already have a taj majal countertop island with a sandstone cliff painted base which I plan to keep. We are installing new white countertops around the perimeter and white 4x9 backsplash (included photo of new backsplash). I thought I wanted dark cabinets with champagne bronze cabinet pulls, faucet, etc...but I chose a color by dunn edwards "black walnut" and it literally looks like the color of poop! :( Now i'm so confused. I am having them resand and primer to repaint. Do I go lighter on cabinets or is there a darker color that I should go with??? I'm open to color suggestions please! :)

Comments (70)As it appears on the screen, I like its muted gray tone because it picks up on your gray counter. It looks like a blue gray here and the blue is very pretty with your cabinet color. Comments (12)I own a company that goes into homes and re sprays this exact product all the time. We do excellent touch ups repairs on them as well. When presented with a larger spray that involves the doors and drawers. We do our best to get a company involved that can hang them and spray them for us and we go in and do the boxes onsite. There have been many times we have created our own way of hanging them, but it is a pain. You have conversion varnish on there now. We would come in to re spray with conversion varnish hopefully supplied by the company that finished them or get the color code and go get some made. The finish if applied correctly will be as durable. Being sprayed onsite is not any finishers favorite thing to do, but it is possible. The real thing you need to consider is what else can be damaged in removing the incorrect parts. If you allow them to spray onsite, and all goes well in a few hours everything will be done. If you wait for new product they need to uninstall a lot, re install, perform any touch ups if needed to your walls, floors and possibly the cabinets themselves. All of these areas are at risk of damage if uninstalled. Touch up is a very big part of the cabinet industry. Other than owning Woodright Repair Services in Tacoma. I am a Technical Rep for Konig North America for Washington, Oregon and Hawaii. Konig is a touch up material manufacturer that is 125 years old. My Konig customers are directly large cabinet companies. They all have some times several touch up stations within the factory. Sometimes even set up to respray parts that were shot the wrong color. This is to help reduce waste. If those cabinets come off your wall, they go into a dumpster. I would give them a shot at it once. Comments (18)I’m in the same boat as you except my cabinets are a horrible antique white (yellowish beige). We just painted our walls alabaster white and love it. Of course my cabinets are still horrible so we’re going to paint them as well. I notice your cabinets are more of a true white... maybe off white, so I think alabaster would work well. It’s a popular color because it can go with warm colors or cool colors. This is the backsplash tile?? Where's the countertop youre using?
puting in a plain white quartz countertop w/white cabs and this weird tile for backsplash doesn't work w/this Taj island.Don't put the cart before the horse. Get the perimeter countertop first. then paint. then decide on a tile.
you can't find another slab of taj from the same dealer?
here's a two tone. on the perimeter are the white cabs w/a black countertop.
Look at Silestone Eternal Charcoal and Serena in the suede finish. either of those could work

last yearBeth H: it can certainly be confusing, esp for consumers who don’t search for slabs all that often. In our experience, when we started looking last December, we found we liked those slabs better that came labeled as PV from the distributor; those were lighter, with a creamy beige background, and with subtle green and/or tan veining. A lot of TM we saw was dark, gray or green, heavily patterned all over, some even with pink areas, or “red wine” stains. We really wanted leathered or honed, but those slabs were the worst of the bunch, so we stayed away from them. As I said, this was our personal experience here in NC. We learned that most slabs now are very dark and moody….they’re getting to the “end of the ham”, as my friend puts it; our fabricator confirmed this, stating that they can’t wait for TM/PV to be gone, because it’s the toughest stone to cut! I’m just glad we found what we wanted, even though it took quite a bit of research.
Below is our slab….we got 2 of them. (We did walnut on the island.)
