neurotic dining table placement
Comments (8)Tell your DH that he should be happy he doesn't have to worry about these details..... The beauty of your dilemma is that if you don't like the placement of the table, you can always move it. Remember, options can be our friends. I would wait until the space is finished, place the table in one location, try it out for a week, move it to the other location and see which I like better. Then I would have the light installed. If it costs a bit more for them to come back and install the light that's better than having them move it from one location to the other and having to repair the dry wall and repaint. Then you can post photos of the two options and your equally neurotic GWers can give you input. It could be worse, you could be unsure about kitchen cabinet or appliance placement and that you can't test-drive!...See MoreCan I move this pendant entryway light over dining table?
Comments (16)Hopefully whom ever put in the your hall light left extra wire in the electric box in the ceiling and you will not have to rewire. Look around your Lowes or Home depot they might have some gold chain. Even though gold is coming back in style, sometimes it is still hard to find and so many different colors of gold. Or if your husband installed it maybe he saved the remaining chain. You picked a nice fixture. Look for something that complements it. From your pictures the foyer looks open to the living area. I would just go smaller. The shadows Sam is talking about, is the shadow the light casts on the ceiling and walls when it is on. Yours is fine. I seen one light shadow that looked like a boob on the ceiling. lol Oh yes I am for easy maintenance and comfort....See MoreDining table placement
Comments (21)It's possible the last sofa arrangement can work with some tweaks. This seems to be the only way you would have space for a dining table unless finding a narrow rectangular one. I would pull the 2 seater out some towards the patio door and also towards the kitchen/hallway, but make sure you have enough space to walk to the patio door. Then I would move the 3 seater closer to the 2 seater, but still across and with enough space to put a coffee table between and also get into the seats. I think this would then allow the Fireplace be more centered. You will have some space behind the 3 seater which you could use to allow walking space to the book shelf and also depending on space put a sofa table. In the L shape sofa arrangement you may be able to make it work with a narrow 30" table and a bench along the window side and no chairs across from the bench, but some on each end of the table. This is less than ideal though. Another option is to keep the 3 seater sofa and get 2 chairs to flank the sofa on each side and pull it closer to the FP to have more space for dining....See Moredining room lighting placement
Comments (6)With a 42" wide table centered on a light 52" away from wall, that leaves you with 31" from edge of table to wall. So when a person is seated at the table with back to the wall, there will be about 12" between the back of chair and wall. So go with the larger 52" light placement, however I can't read the drawing dimensions to know if that is pushing the table too far into the circlulation path, but it appears to be ok....See MoreJeanne Cardwell
