Need help creating color palette that compliments SW Agreeable Gray

The situation is my neighbor's small condo where the living space/dining space/kitchen face north. Off of the living space is a study/office that has lots of windows and is painted SW Agreeable Gray. She will be replacing her kitchen cabinets and is repainting the living area and would like the colors to be complementary to the Agreeable Gray in the adjacent room

Her taste is a Rustic Pottery Barn vibe. She loves caramels and greens (fall colors). She has a deep brown-carmelly color sectional and dark rich beautiful wood flooring that matches the color of pumpkin spice coffee syrup. Her kitchen is a small galley style kitchen. The back wall has upper cabinets, the run of cabinets in front of those (where her sink is) does not have cabinets over them. She will be adding a wall of floor to ceiling cabinetry in her dining space for extra storage. No open shelving.

If she goes with a soft sage color for her cabinets (with black hardware) then what would go on the walls that work with that color and still compliment the Agreeable Gray you see in the background?

Any ideas?

To start we need to see the space . Wall colr is the last choice you make along with backsplash. Describing the floor color is no help at all. Why is she doing green cabinets? I need more info and pictures

Patricia is right, you choose the paint color last. But I imagine what you're trying to do is get a picture in your head of what the whole thing will look like when it's done. Given the information provided, I will say that Agreeable Gray is pretty neutral. It is a good color in a south facing room or a room that gets a lot of light. Of course one of my relatives painted almost her whole house that color and she loves it, so each to their own. And I don't think she is the only one - it is a very popular color. But it shouldn't drive the bus if she only has one room that color.

If the other rooms you're talking about, like the kitchen, don't get as much light and the homeowner is thinking about green cabinets, she will probably be looking at warm off whites. There are dozens of them. One of them will work. She should design her kitchen and not worry about the paint color. She could also consider just having a green island and keeping the rest more neutral. See if you can get her to compile an Ideabook in Houzz of kitchens she likes.

Same color would be pretty - and easy. When you cut or adjust a formula, you're creating a completely different color. Every dimension of the color is changed, hue, value, chroma, LRV. The new color might resemble the old color in some way, but there's no way to know until you have it mixed, dry it out and look at it. In the case of Agreeable Gray specifically, if you cut it by 50% you get a light gray that looks a lot like SW 6000 Snowfall. Agreeable Gray and Snowfall don't look good together - they don't "go" together. If you want a color that looks like Agreeable Gray, just lighter try White Heron SW 7627 for the ceiling. If you pull all three chips, Agreeably Gray, Snowfall and White Heron, you'll see what I'm talking about.

I have anew gray currently in my bedroom on the walls and alabaster on the trim. I think it would be beautiful to have the trim and perhaps the door also sw anew gray and the walls alabaster. Another look depending on the height of your ceilings, you could paint the ceiling anew gray with alabaster walls.

I painted my whole house agreeable grey and kept my 90's orange oak cabinets and cream laminate countertop until we could afford to remodel - it did not look good at all. We kind of just pretended the kitchen didn't exist at that time lol

Would you mind posting a picture or three? Your question and conversation is our actual dilemma. I want Urbane Bronze on my basement theater wall. It's all new construction with extremely well lighted areas. However, I am struggling in choosing the accompanying gray that goes with it. Agreeable Gray is also, slightly too pinkish for my taste. How did the iron ore turn out? I am worried that it will look too black, rather than dark gray or charcoal.
