Paint help please- SW Incredible White cabinets, Agreeable Gray walls+
Comments (14)Here are the hue/value/chroma color notations for many of the colors on the SW strip. Just because colors are on the same strip is no guarantee that they will indeed harmonize and/or in the same hue family. Incredible White - 1.59Y hue/ 9 value / 1 chroma Agreeable Gray - 2.34Y hue / 8 value / 1 chroma Anew Gray - 1.52Y hue / 7 value / 1 chroma Mega Greige - 9.96YR hue / 7 value / 1 chroma Anonymous - 2.89Y hue / 5 value / 1 chroma Mega Greige belongs to the Yellow-Red hue family (orange) Given the above information, I would agree with nosoccermom that SW Anonymous might be the better choice to coordinate with Incredible White, Anew and Agreeable Gray. Because Mega Greige's notation indicates it could have orange overtones. I'll attach a color wheel so you can plot the colors according to hue family if you want to. P.S. Many people are unable to perceive the difference between pink overtones and orange overtones and will confuse pinkish and peachiness. It's important to know if the color characteristic is indeed pink (red hue family) or peach (orange hue family) because the light never gets confused - the light is boss. So you have to KNOW what hue family a color belongs to. And you KNOW what hue family a color belongs to by measuring it to capture its spectral data (its fingerprint or DNA) and converting that spectral data into a color notation - a hue/value/chroma notation....See MorePaint Help - SW Agreeable Gray vs SW Anew Gray
Comments (52)I have anew gray currently in my bedroom on the walls and alabaster on the trim. I think it would be beautiful to have the trim and perhaps the door also sw anew gray and the walls alabaster. Another look depending on the height of your ceilings, you could paint the ceiling anew gray with alabaster walls....See MoreAgreeable gray ceiling with stonington gray walls?
Comments (7)Why? Not sure why you think these work together? Personally, I like a white ceiling. Decorator white. These are colors that they say work. Meh. What is the issue is keeping the ceiling gray....See MoreWhat color next to alabaster and agreeable gray
Comments (23)I will gladly offer my opinion but it would be biased with my personal tastes. I would also need more information as choosing color should relate to the big picture and the style you are going for. What rooms are adjacent to the kitchen? What is your cabinet layout and door style? Will you have a backsplash? How much lighting will you have? Where does the shiplap wall fall in the layout? Agreeable gray walls and cabinets will create a subdued mood with the cabinets receding into the background. Will the shiplap still be alabaster? Trim? Will you have crown? It could look very nice if you have enough whites throughout to bounce light. I tend to like whites and would likely not do gray cabinets in my kitchen but still appreciate it done well in other homes. The monochromatic look can look good with your other style choices, but so would the contrast created by the alabaster walls which will brighten your space. This photo has Agreeable gray cabinets on the perimeter. They do not mention the shade of white on the walls but it appears to lean warm. The backsplash adds a reflective quality. This photo is Agreeable gray cabs with BM Elmira White walls. Looks nice with warm oak floors. Ultimately, this really needs to be what feels right to you in your space and how the colors look in YOUR light on each wall. Please get sample boards as paint is an expensive decision. What looks good in pictures can look so different in your home. I sampled so many grays and whites prior to choosing mine....See MoreJAN MOYER
