Flooring Design Dilemma Kitchens

CorTec Cairo Oak or Madrid Oak?

Trying to decide between Cairo Oak (in the middle) or Madrid Oak (to the right) in my kitchen. Im going for a farmhouse feel with white cabinets. the floor to the left is porcelein tile that i love, but we may have to go with LVP due to the cost of labor to install porcelein. any other color recommendations welcome!

You don't think that posting a picture of the space would be helpful?

Is this flooring only for the kitchen?

If yes, then what is the other flooring that butts up against it?

Or will this flooring go throughout the entire floor?

Both are nice. one is warmer w/a yellow tone,

(this is a lot of yellow)

the other is cooler w/a grayish tone.

How about the 9" in Cyril Oak? This looks better than the Cairo.

What's the wall color? Are the white cabinets a warm white or cool white?

do you have a tile splash?

Countertop? Adjoining room furniture? Lighting?

do you have wood tables or chairs?

I vote for the middle the one on the right is too gray. iI think it is very pretty but very rustic so I would realize that some people might find it too rustic. But if it fits your style by all means go for it

A place I've wanted to visit is in Jackson, Ms, the reconstructed home and gardens of Eudora Welty. The book, "One Writer's Garden, Eudora Welty's Home Place" shows pictures of how the reconstruction has been done. The book indicates a number of old roses have been replanted in that garden, which were original to the home when Eudora and her mother lived there. I'd love to see Elizabeth Lawrence's home and garden in Charlotte, NC, Wing Garden, mostly because I am a big fan of hers. In South Carolina there is a topiary garden, Pearl Fryar Garden in Bishopville, that I've wanted to visit as well. It seems amazing from what I've seen. I agree with Ann above about visiting the Vicksburg, MS civil war memorial. The cemetery, the grounds and the exhibits are really interesting to see. The wonderful hydrangea gardens in Birmingham, Al, Aldridge Gardens, are worth seeing and should be blooming if you're going soon. I am sorry I never made it to Bellingrath to see the rose gardens there. The botanical gardens in Huntsville and Nashville are worth seeing. The Hermitage, Andrew Jackson's homeplace and gardens, is worth a trip if you're in Nashville. I first saw a chestnut rose in that garden there. The Natchez Trace is beautiful, I think. There is also a beautiful garden, or at least was 30 years ago, south of Shreveport, Hodges Gardens. I saw a lot of beautiful camellias at that garden; I don't know what it's like now, but worth checking into if you're going to be in Shreveport. I've always wanted to see the beginning point of the Mississippi River up in Wisconsin. I hope you have a wonderful trip; it's one I'd like to take as well sometime. Take care, travelling solo!

Hi @Lini Alim - We have not used Calypso Oak in our kitchen. It was installed in our basement. But we do have cabinets in our basement that will be white. Unfortunately the cabinet doors are not delivered to me yet. But I think you can never go wrong with Calypso oak and white cabinets.

they are both nice...what counters etc? the knots are more prominent on the middle one. the right one may not really be all that gray..its more a bleached look which might have some possibilities. depends on what else you are doing I think.

@Beth H. : I literally have nothing in my kitchen so theres nothing to show. we lost almost all of it due to a massive dishwasher flood and are starting over from scratch. all i know is im planning to do a warm white cabinet, agreeable beige walls, granite i want something ivory/beige/tan…. I have a gray wood table & chairs (thats staying) . the floor that runs into the kitchen is wood, 4” planks & orangy… very old school and i never liked it. ill see if i can find some pics

I like the Cairo Oak best, as I think it is more timeless. Also, I think the same flooring throughout is the best look.

Ok, gotcha. I do like both.

Can you not do engineered real wood floors? does it have to be LVP?

And you never said if these floors are going throughout, or just the kitchen. what kind of flooring is there now (or was there?)

The floor in your pic above is closer to Madrid than cairo.

If you have a gray wood table and chairs, then I think the Madrid would work better.

if you want the Agreeable gray walls, they lean away from yellow and more towards taupe, the Madrid would look better.

what kind of countertop? a granite? quartz?

Both Cairo. I think warmer whites, soft sage and blues and yellow based grays work better w/this flooring.

why not get a box of both and lay them out in your room.

get your paint color samples, and cabinet door samples and lay everything out together so you can see?
