Help with design ideas for wall between kitchen and family room
Comments (8)aokat15, I saw your reference on my "boxed in columns" post. Thanks for referring me here. We're definitely on the same track. I really liked the examples that you and the other posters put up. I think we're leaning toward the idea shanghaimom posted with the columns and the arch except DH and I were thinking to panel 3 sides and install shelves on the inside. In my situation, the family room side is a walkway, so we'll have plenty of space for an overhanging bar with a few stools. In the picture below, we already have the basic structure....See Moreopen up wall between kitchen and living room
Comments (10)Thanks for your feedback! Of note: our contractor did not think he would be able to relocate the heat vent without major expense and also going into the floor upstairs. The drain pipe is going to be looked at by a plumber tomorrow. We don’t want to sink a ton of money into the project so options are somewhat limited. With a support beam being added where the wall is being opened, it doesn’t leave room to the route the plumbing or vent. We aren’t doing the work ourselves, the contractor just opened up the drywall today to find the surprise vent. :)...See MoreA corner between den and kitchen, just off living room. Help!

I would get a sideboard type piece of furniture and decorate the top of it like a bar....See MoreAdvice removing a wall between kitchen and living room
Comments (2)We definitely need some more information. Photos and measurements. You should also get some quotes. Cased opening will be cheaper than fully open. But will still cost a chunk of the budget to move electrical Whether you choose to go fully open or cased opening I would do it to the entire wall....See MoreKay p
