Comments (33)Today I sprayed 4 gallons of Certainty on POA annual and trivialis . I also pulled about 20-30 pounds of POA with a weedhoundÂÂBelow are pics from todays adventure. Death to POA!!!!!! I do have a few questions on getting my lawn back to shape. IÂll address these with the pictures below. Picture of last weekendÂs Cretainty Spraying the POA is just starting to turn brown after 7 days. Here is a picture of using Round Up (M1 shmosh technique with a glove wet with round up). This area is new groth from my fall seedingÂÂ.its 90 percent PAO. I sprayed it down today with Certainty. Here are some divots from pulling the POA with a weedhound. There is still some POA left in this area. Will this Divot heal properly with new KBG? Here is the POA from the Divots aboveÂÂ Some more POAÂ.. This area is from the fall seeding alsoÂ..again 70-80 pecent POA. I also sprayed this area today with CertaintyÂÂ..Will the KBG come back? Some POA hiding in KBG Some more POA hiding Death to POA (weedhound extraction) Is this area worth saving (2 pics)ÂÂ.Is there enough KBG to Come back after the Certainty does it thing? IÂm thinking hard about replacing the sod in this area with new KBG from a local sod farm. Dead POA pile and very big divotÂÂ.IÂm going to fill this divot with a piece of sod. So when can I put down some more Pre M.....? I wonder how much KBG I actualy have left in my lawn? Happy POA hunting to ALL.........Death To POA!...See MoreWhere to go from here...Weeds, Weeds and more weeds!
Comments (2)Before you invest more money for bigger solutions, consider how much time and money you have to actually be handling this. A good lawn is not just a 1-season job of doing something to make it look good. You may have to do something for 2-5 years before you see the result you want. Laying down sod for the entire yard is a fast option but if you aren't taking care of it, you just used a lot of money and will have similar issues again (just like you have described about your previous attempts) A non-grassy solution is that maybe you can turn your entire backyard into a kind of playground or xeriscape area for your kids. Rocks, mulch, pea pebbles, etc -- they will allow for your kids to be able to play in the yard, and for you to be able to spot unwanted plants quickly. Where you do want a particular group of plants, you can do a small bed, either in-ground or in a raised bed. But even at that, it's still something you'll have to maintain throughout the year, because unwanted plants have a way of blowing in through the wind, animals, or even popping up through landscape fabric. If you do have a rototiller already, it's still a good idea to use it to turn the weeds under if you don't want to pull them out first. After that, maintain the area by actively pulling out weeds. You can even make it a game with your kids. Even when I hand-pull weeds, the area I'm working in does get better without high cost of money, but it needs my continuous vigilance to keep it that way....See MoreWhere did this come from???? Comments (24)Well Patty, we'll see about whose surprise "Scotty's Surprise" turns out to be. It certainly was mine -- for awhile! I didn't notice the bromeliad flower stalk until the day after you were here. You're Ms. Eagle-eye -- surprised you didn't spot it. Maybe it shot up over night?...See MoreWhere did this tile come from?
Comments (1)It's natural stone; impossible to locate the same "lot" over a long period of time. You can try to come close by taking a few pieces to different shops and check against the current lots available....See More- Rose Pekelnicky thanked daninthedirt (USDA 9a, HZ9, CentTX, Sunset z30, Cfa)
