Help! I have seeds coming but no idea what to put where. Please h
Comments (3)with only two 4x4 raised beds, you definitely have way too much. For your tomatoes - you need to dedicate at least a 2x2 area for each plant at the minimum. That means only four tomato plants in the 4x4 raised bed. You **might** be able to plant a row of lettuce/green beans around the perimeter of the beds if you put the tomatoes in the middle. Lettuce & green beans should be space six inches apart from my experience. Peppers typically do not need a 2x2 area - and you will really be stretching it to plant them in a square foot. Best is about 18 inches square for peppers. For your peas - you could put up a pea trellis on the north side of one (or both) of the 4x4 gardening areas for the peas to crawl up. Hopefully they will be taller and be fully finished by the time the peppers and tomatoes take off. Then you could plant green beans in the place of the peas after they are done. Oregano really needs two years to grow and is a perennial. I started some from seed last year and they didn't get very big - but I understand they will take off this year (hopefully). Oregano needs to be left in the same place each year - so it will come back yearly. You can mix-and-match what you would like to grow - but with the cucumbers and watermelon, you could potentially grow those near the end of one of the beds and let the vines go out into your lawn. Just be careful not to mow them over. Here is a link that might be useful: BsnTech Gardening Blog...See MoreHelp! I Have a large family and I can't fill them up!
Comments (4)We don't have a large family (yet), but we recently catered our own wedding, with 70 people, so I learned a few things! The smartest thing we did, was to shop at a wholesale, discount place. We went to Costco's (others: "BJ's" and "Sam's"). I noticed a lot of people with large families there. Not only is it cheaper, but the large sizes really inspire you to do batch-cooking. Here was one recipe we loved, which freezes well, is easy to reheat, and was well tailored to the portions at Costco...Quesadillas (similar to fajitas): 1 large bag of grated cheese (about 5 lbs for $11!) 20-30 tortillas any combo of pre-cooked veggies or meat We went vegetarian, using onions, mushrooms and peppers--but try spinach, zucchini, chicken, anything that's on sale! Even just plain cheese works. Fill the tortillas with the stuff. Fold them in half (omelette-style). Then, stack them and put them in a bag and freeze (I put saran wrap between each one to keep them from sticking together, but it may not have been necessary). To cook, just grill, fry, or toaster-oven them (I like to thaw them, then toaster-oven for 10-15 minutes). Microwave probably works too. We bought a big-sized container of salsa to go with it, and some sour cream. These are soooooo yummy, I promise your kids will love them. Total servings: 20-30 Total cost (at Costco's): $20-$30, including veggies & salsa...See MoreI have no idea what I am doing! New Hosta grower needs help!

NEVER FERT A HOSTA IN FALL .... late next spring would be ok ... but you need years.. not fert.. to get them big ... what bruce said on mulch ... we arent mulching to extend the season ... we are piling it on.... NEAR GROUND FREEZE ... so they dont pop out of the ground... in late winter.. early spring ... leaves from the lawn.. have to be cut pretty small.. so they dont suffocate the plants .. i used to suck them up ... very dry ... put then in the street.. and then reduce them to about little finger nail size .... so they stayed fluffy ... snow cover is irellevant ... its good ... ignoring my crack about snow thaw in june.. lol ... dont leave them in the glass of water for too long.. they are not aquatic .... few days is OK ... ken...See MoreHelp! Comments (10)I’d do a sculpture (or sculpture set). Simple, but elegant, sophisticated, and professional. These are all Uttermost: I like several of these — especially the wooden ones, which I think would bring a nice and warm textural feel to the space .... https://www.perigold.com/--Dax-Teak-Sculpture-EI104924-L1191-K~QHC5898.html?refid=GX381619263347-QHC5898&device=c&ptid=762960063987&targetid=pla-762960063987&ireid=31625747&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7-KZ2Ian5wIVhcDACh3DfAHTEAQYCSABEgKkxPD_BwE Love these Yucca sculptures .......See Morejck910
