Not much is blooming here right now. Fulvous Brush Man just started to bloom (the latest one of all) and Carol Sing is still blooming on its first round. Most of what I saw today are seedlings.

Ultimate Design is reblooming. I will try to pollinated some of the flowers even though it's after my cut-off date for pollinating. I usually stop around Aug. 15 to give the pods time to mature. Ultimate Design will go in the greenhouse.

Cherry Pie a la Mode X (Stellar Stitchery X Cherry Pie a la Mode) is reblooming. Compared to its pod parent, this seedling has a bigger, more triangular eye, more color on the sepals. It is still lacking the complete border on the petals.

A cross of two late bloomers gives this seedling--Deadliest Catch X Raggedy Man.

This is Pineapple Bites X Veto.

This is Raggedy Man X Sonoran Desert Rose.

This little diploid seedling is Stella's Ruffled Fingers X either Indelible Blood or O Positive. We bought those two from the same seller. We bought two of one and one of the other (they were just single fans). Either the seller or we got them mixed up. Since both Indelible Blood and O Positive are the same color (and very similar) it took us a while to get them straight. They are now, but there is no way of knowing which one was he pollen parent of this seedling.

Late summer is when the tropical hibiscus start showing off. Here are two that we had had the longest (in fact, Bob had both of these before we were married and we have been married for 44 years)

Anderson's Double Yellow--you might ask where is the yellow. It's on the backside of the petals.

I love Jack's Mischief! my very favorite here, but I do like Carpathian Magic too. Too bad it does not do that well for you. I like the seedling too. I am glad you pictured your clivia. I have a pot in bloom and been wracking my brain trying to remember what those are called.

Julia, Sea of Cinders has not proven to be reliably hardy here. We have lost over winter two plants that were planted in the ground. Luckily for us, Sea of Cinders produced several prolifs the first year it bloomed. Now we now have the potted one and one planted outside in a protected location (on the south side of the garage). Both are doing fine, but we fear a bad winter will kill the one outside. I think it's Bob's absolute favorite daylily but I don't think it is available anywhere. Extreme Tangerine, one of our intros for 2021 is out of it (crossed with Horns, which is hardy here). Extreme Tangerine is more orange than red orange but it seems to be totally hardy. Houzz won't let me post a picture of Extreme Tangerine.

I want you to know Nan that I am a gardener, not a sadist. When our temperature went from 107 to 109 today (and more to follow for the next 10 days), I pulled all the pots of daylilies I could that were in total sun back to a place they will receive some late PM shade (from about 3-4 PM and after)............. Thanks for the further information on Muy Caliente. If it survives whatever mother nature throws at us this winter, I look forward to it next summer where hopefully the temperatures will be more moderate here (as in 90's).............Maryl

I can see why you want to hybridize with Ultimate Design. It's a wow flower and Bill Maryott's dream. Hope it produces something in your red-edged line. How have Kendig plants in this line done for you? Vibrant hibiscus colors, and after over 44 years, they certainly have earned a place in your collection.

Love the hibiscus colors!!! How great to have kept them for so long! Seedlings look good. Ultimate Design is so pretty and how great it is reblooming for you.

A happy dance for rebloom in Indiana! None in northern Illinois this year, rare as it is. You have such nice red edged seedlings, so nice to see reblooming on this one

Nice group of seedlings. Ultimate Design has such a nice ruffled edged and color. The color on the hibiccus really stands out. No rebloom here in my garden so far. We have not had rain for over a week now as most of the storms have gone around us. Quite a change from weekly storms.

Very pretty ones, Nancy. This is Raggedy Man X Sonoran Desert Rose., Pineapple Bites X Veto,

and Stella's Ruffled Fingers X either Indelible Blood all appeal to me, but not a stinker in the bunch. Ultimate Design is awfully pretty. By the way, Nancy, the two fans of Muy Caliente has increased from the original two fans to six fans. It will stay in its pot until I see roots at the bottom of the pot. The other two are doing very well also.

It is still in its pot, but the roots have reached the bottom of the pot so I will let it gtoewin the pot for another week to ten days then plant it. It really surprised me when i saw the sixth little fan had popped up today so it must like the climate here in the 8 section of the country.

The hibiscus are such pretty colors. I have seen lots of tropical hibiscus at garden centers this year and been very tempted. I did buy a deep red hardy hibiscus.

I really like your seedlings, but especially the Pineapple Bites seedling. Love Ultimate Design.
